It actually looks like we're all getting one on 4 or 5 lots of crap. This is probably a ploy to get rid of their slow moving items.

I got my gold box today...what the frig is an olive roaster? Why would anyone go to the trouble when it only holds 6 olives? what the hell...it was only $35. It'll make the little wife a fine birthday present anyway.

Did I say "today" I mean last Friday. Sorry for the confusion. Too many margaritas over the weekend....

Nothing says love more than a roasted olive. 🙂

I spoke to an amazon rep on the phone today (had a hell of a time finding a phone number) to setle a small billing issue and while I was at it I asked abut the gold box offers, and why I wasn't recieving any when I loged into amazon. What she told me was that gold box offers were a promotion they started and then quickly stoped because of technical issues. According to the people in this thread the deal does seem to still be going strong so I am not really sure what to make of it. Just thought I'd share the amazon representitives stance on this thats all.

well, i used to have this gold box action and now it is gone, so this supports what was said above about it being discontinued.

The Gold Box is back. FYI, I could not access it with Netscape 4.x. But with 6.x, I could. I also got it with MSIE 5.5.

No good deals for me this time. In fact, the razor I bought the first time around for $54 is now $74, but their "normal price" also rose from $150 to $200.

BTW, if you get this razor offer, the Panosonic ES8003, even at $74 it's a great deal. I've got it already and have used it twice and it truely better than the Mach 3 blade I use. this thing is sweeeeet. It uses a linear motor instead of rotary, and has an induction battery charger, rather than a plug in. that means you put in the charger, but there's no metal to metal contact. They warn about putting paper clips and such in there, as they'll get hot from the induction.

Cheap buggers... only think I might be interested in was the palm 505 listed in there... followed by the box
I'm sorry, but we've just run out of this item. Our Gold Box deals are so good, we sometimes can't keep up!

My best guess as to why some people don't see the gold box:
Sites like Amazon use A|B testing on some new features. What we'll do is put a bit on the page so that 50% of the users will see the new feature and 50% will not. In this case, since they obviously have only a few lots of products available, they are using a small bucket of users see this so they can measure interest in the feature. If it gets attention and they can work out the bugs they will probably add it to the site for everyone.

That's odd (the shaver price)...it appears they are using different prices. Last week my shaver was $54 delivered. today it was $74. Your's was $67.

This is a nifty idea, I hope Amazon leaves it up. Too bad I only got kitches products 🙂 C'mon, ELECTRONICS!

I am becoming seriously ticked-off that I never see a gold box on either my or my wife's Amazon account. This reminds me of the "test marketing" they did a few years back in which they offered different prices on CDs (or was it DVDs ?) to different customers. If I remember correctly, it totally blew up in their faces and became a major embarrassment and marketing/public-relations blunder.

I never got my Goldbox to show up on until I logged in with Netscape 4.X (hehe I guess Netscape is still useful).

Here's the link I used to get to the Goldbox.

I was able to make it appear with netscape 6.2....... But nothing good. I would have bought the slimx if it showed up, or that shaver too...

Weird. I get the Gold Treasure Chests when I go to Amazon from home, but I never see them when I go to Amazon from work.

Similar story here. Couldn't see them on IE 5.5 or Netscape 4.08. I disabled cookies on Netscape and *presto!*, the magical, appearing gold box. I got all electronics, but 3/5 offers were OOS.

My recommendation after checking the "Gold Box" a couple of times:

Don't waste your time looking for it.

Gold Box? More like a Litter Box.

:disgust:

"MAXTOR 60GB 7200RPM Model # 6L060J3 -D740X OEM, DRIVE ONLY " $91
Quiet drive version is $95.

Granted its OEM (i.e. bulk packaged), but do you really need an extra IDE cable and screws that bad? 🙂
