going to toronto

well tim hortons and pizza pizza
(i never been, but thats where id start)

Travel to a foreign city just to go to some stupid chain places? No.

Toronto is a huge multi-cultural city, and I imagine you'll be able to find whatever you're into. Tell us what that is, and we may be of more help.

Salad King FTW! (one of my favorite places to eat when I go to TO)

Honestly, that city is huge.... Too many places to list... Gotta be more specific with what you might like to see/do/eat.

I think the best dining experience I've had in Toronto in quite some time was at the Art Gallery of Ontario's restaurant, Frank.

Nota Bene is one of Toronto's best new restaurants - very downtown at Queen and University.

Panorama Lounge is the best place in the city to go for drinks and a view - it's an enormous lounge located on the 51st floor of a downtown skyscraper and offers unparalleled views of the city (this is literally what your camera will take). A must visit for tourists.

Laide Lounge (NSFW) used to be awesomely cool but seems near deserted lately - but I haven't stopped in for a while now.

If you're talking about the one by Yonge-Dundas, I think that building is being gutted right now.

Go to Swiss Chalet. It's not St. Hubert's, but it's damn good.

That or just go downtown and walk in somewhere with people.

Pizza Pizza makes the worst pizza ever. Don't go there.
this.

well i'd go to St. Louis wings and ribs because i like their dill dipping sauce with the fries... and the dusted cajun wings dipped in hot sauce... and probably the hockey hall of fame because i've NEVER been. but that's just me. i haven't been to T.O. in years, i'd be asking the same questions as you 😀

im really into anything.. just looking for whats good to eat there.. well i guess anything but fish.. dont like that.

as for what to see... once again. usually open to any kind of experiance.. i started looking at tripadvisor.. i saw there was a brewery tour... i might check that out..

how is victoria day up there? I am going to be in toronto during that.

We round up revolutionaries that day and string them up on the mast :awe:

We don't do much for Victoria Day here in Toronto. I think there are fireworks annually at Ontario Place - I attended last year and it was freezing cold outside. Hopefully this year will be much better.

cn tower worth it?

Not really but you're obligated to go just to say you've done it. Skip the full pass that takes you to the very-very top, the main observation area is more than good enough.

Steamwhistle is cool, and a fun tour. It's literally right beside the CN Tower so you could do both in one trip.

what to see and where to eat?

Enjoy, subway is $3 one way, stay away from Jane & Finch, and don't give the bums change.

Toronto is not really a tourist city in my opinion. I work downtown (Jarvis & Bloor) and there's not many exciting places near there.

For places to eat, the School Bakery in Liberty Viliage (at Fraser & Liberty St.) has some of the best breakfast fare in the city.

CN Tower and Rogers Centre are obvious places. I'd also check out Kensington Market neighbourhood, China Town, St. Lawrence Market (Jarvis and Front), The Eaton Centre, the Royal Ontario Museum (I think the King Tut exhibit is still on), high fashion Yorkville (Bloor & Bay) the Hockey Hall of Fame, Casa Loma, the Ontario Science Centre (Eglinton & Don Mills) and the theatre district on King West.

There's also lots of nice places outside the city. Make sure to take a visit to cottage country.

sense you seem to be the residant toronto guide how is Barberians?

I am very likely the most Toronto-y poster on these forums. Live downtown, work downtown, regularly do Toronto-y stuff. 😀

I've been to Harbour Sixty for a four-figure-plus meal, and that was only rated #2 in the list of The Best Steakhouses in Toronto. Barberian's was #1 on that list. I've never been, but I suspect that it is fantastic.

Victoria Day in Ottawa is awesome, however. Then, you could go to Toronto after that (or Montreal for the jazz festival).
