Going to Seattle this weekend

If it wasn't going to be so damn cold this weekend, I'd suggest getting a City Pass. There is a lot to do up there. One place I like to go during nice weather is the Seattle Maritime Museum/Center for Wooden Boats. http://www.cwb.org/

Take one day and walk around downtown. Visit the Aquarium, Space Needle, Pike's Place, eat some chowder. You can also take a ferry ride. From Seattle, you can even take a ferry to Vancouver Island and spend a day in Victoria BC.

We hit the Boeing Air & Space Museum (got to go on the first Airforce 1 and a Concorde) and Ikea last Saturday. We used to live up there so we didn't run around and do everything, heh.

Where will you be staying?

We'll be staying at the Marriot in Kent because this was sort of last minute (I just booked this 😱).

Eh...Kent? Really?

Ya no kidding, see if you can cancel.

Walk around swinging a Terrible Towel over your head.😀

That'll get you beat up. Oh wait, this is Seattle - people will just give you a look and then walk by.

😀lol

I would hope thats all that would happen...beating someone up over that would be pathetic...
Of course I am from Seattle...
We got snow up just north of the U District (86th) not too much though.
As for what to see- I think everyones said the best parts- make sure to hit up pike's place. Redhook Brewery is fun too- about 15 mins outside of Seattle- get a tour of the brewery, get a bunch of samples and get to keep the sampling glass all for $1.

Lots of places on East Coast would get you in seroius trouble for doing something like that. If not beat up, you'll at least take a barage of insults.

😀 Not knocking on Kent, just wondering why you would want to hotel there if coming to Seattle for vacation 😕

That commute must suck....

I just arrived about 4 hours ago and have driven through Seattle and stopped by Pike's Place. All I can is that its damn cold here. I'm in the hotel right now and yes its in Kent. Its not that bad of a drive especially since I compare it to LA traffic.
And we actually chose Pike Place Chowder to have some soup and it was delicious. I didn't even read that suggestion and luckily chose it by accident.
We'll be heading off to the Seattle Center in a few minutes. Any places for happy hour in that area?

HAHAHAH you find the worst time to come, it's freezing cold today. I am staying home turning on my heater man.

Wait til 5pm in I405, the Traffic will be completely dead. Go up to U-district for happy hour?

If you're any kind of airplane buff, the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field is a must-see Their collection of WWII aircraft is awesome.

Head over to Pioneer Square - there are a bunch of bars within walking distance of each other. Some with music, some without, good people watching. Or at least it was years ago when I actually used to go out 🙂

If you get a chance head down to Alki beach and get some fish and chips at Sunfish - the Halibut, Cod, and Salmon and chips are all very good. Then take a BRISK  walk down the beach and head quickly back to Starbucks to warm back up.

I'll be in Frontier Room on 1st ave and Virginia. There's a lot of nice bars around that are. The apartment is nice if you like a quiet upscale kind of place.

The met has a killer happy hour. It's some of the better food in seattle IMO and $4 for a kobe beef burger is a great deal. Anywhere on the water. Ivar's has some awesome happy hours if you want to go up to Lake union or if you go to the water either one is great. One of my favorite restaurants. Check out Husky Stadium and they university. I've been going here for 4 years and still find new places that I have never been. It's truly amazing. One of only 2 campuses that have their stadiums on the water where boats can moor up to. (Tenn. is the other place). Also the arboritum is pretty sweet if the weather stays nice like it has been.

There's a place where you can see salmon swim upstream against the current to go back to the place they were born. pretty cool stuff.
