I'm headed to the "Whale's Vagina" for 4 or 5 days with Family, can anyone recommend something to do? Not too interested in going to Sea World or the San Diego Zoo, been to both of those within the last 5 years i think. Though i might end up going back to the Zoo again anyways.

Also, I don't suppose someone could recommend a hotel or hotel site to look at? Thanks.

Coronado Island and Wild Animal Park are two other good places to visit w/kids. IMO, Wild Animal Park > Zoo

Old Town is a pretty cool place for kids, too. Parking may be tad difficult, though.

Well, this isn't in San Diego, but Joshua Tree is about two hours from LA (not sure how long from San Diego) and is very neat.

if your there over the weekend, I'd head downtown to the gaslamp for the night life, there seems to be a bar or club suited for everyone. That is if thats your sort of thing...

Also I'd recomend checking out Pacific and Ocean beach areas, ie the peir and the some of the local restaurants.

You mention the Zoo, have you been through Balboa Park? Some great museums there. Check out the Cabrillo Monument by Point Loma for one of the most amazing views in town, and of course some nice tide pools. If you want to go for a bit of a drive, Palomar Mountain is also great - easily one of my favorite places to relax. Then you can swing by Julian for a nice slice of apple pie and a gold mine tour.

Stay either on Coronodo if you have the money or else just stay in Hotel Circle off the 8.

I'm going to try and not repeat anything but the one thing that you have to see is the Wild Animal Park. I love the Zoo but if you're sick of it, definitely see the Wild Animal Park. Bring good walking shoes since some of the best things to see are by foot, like the Condors.

Besides that, things not mentioned....

TJ. Not in San Diego but definitely a shithole that everyone should see once. The donkey shows are real.

Head out east. Not sure if it's blooming or not but the desert is a good day trip. Head out to Julian and have some Apple Pie.

Mission Bay is the largest waterpark in the world. Go rent a boat or a seadoo. Have a BBQ.

Play golf? There's some good courses.

Check out the women at SDSU.

There's some good scuba diving sites (apparently), but I haven't done any of them. They apparently sank a bunch of ships and made an underwater aquatic park.

Check out the jets flying out of Miramar. I think the airshow is in October so you missed that.

Balboa park museums are nice, USS Midway is cool (and downtown can be interesting, trolly is cheap). Coronado island is nice. Wild animal park is fun. H&M Landing can be interesting if you get there when one of the big sportfishing boats unloads and does a weigh-in.

If you guys are at all interested in baseball, check out Petco Park. It's a beautiful new ballpark and of course the whole downtown area is amazing now.

Spend a day in Balboa park visiting the museums and enjoying the weather, then get a bite in a nice restaurant nearby (there are tons).

The zoo and wild animal park are cool. Seaworld SUCKS (to many people, not very good).

The beach and old town!!

(Go to TJ for the day).

old town sold its soul when they decided to revamp the bazaar del mundo by granting a bid from an outside vendor rather than renew one for a lady who's operated out of there for 20+ years and had been making the state a nice tidy profit.

Here's another vote for Balboa Park.

Take your frisbee & your shades.

It's just a really pleasant place to be, and full of fascinating sights. Could easily spend a few days seeing it all, and those days would have been very well spent. Air museum, Zoo, dome theater, science museum, model train museum, Shakespear playhouse, excellent Mexican food restaurant, street magicians, mimes, shops in the "world village" left over from some old World Fair, natural history museum, more.

Thanks again, one last minute question, is Legoland good for a day of fun? Never heard much about it.
