NYC is just a mass of humanity. As long as you have cash to spend, you'll have a great time. I've tried to do NYC on the cheap, but it doesn't work. I had a great time the first time I went, staying in Doubletree off Times Square ate at good restaurants, etc. I was there this past weekend for the second time, visiting my friend with a nice apartment in queens, but I hated having to take the subway to get anywhere, and its just a sea of people. It depressed me, this time actually. Go see Times square, walk around 5th and park avenues, chill out in central park... that's about all thats fun unless you have money to blow...

pvssies. i drive to manhattan on average twice every week. the other times i take the subway.

don't worry, i assume you're a simpsons fan, you'll do fine.

if you're staying at the lower east side manhattan, bar hop along Ave A, 1st and 2nd Ave. it's great around summertime, loads of people. if you walk around Ave A - Ave D, watch your back, that is alphabet city. you're going to get mugged, they know toursits when they see some - hahaha

walk up to 14th st. union sq. or take the train down to brooklyn bridge/city hall area. you can walk across brooklyn bridge - end up around the brooklyn naval yard area. there are two great italian restaurants there. scenic for photos.

don't forget battery park on the manhattan side, they redid the area and it's georgous around the west side highway. jogger's and biker's dream. a lot of hot chics!!

walk further up the west side, chelea piers for entertainment. batting cage, driving range, bowling, basketball city, food courts,etc but it's expensive. you can walk towards inner manahttan from there to 7th or 8th ave for bargain restaurants.

soho and the east village are no longer 'cool'. the "coolest" part of the city's night life now is around West Side-Chelsea-Meat Market

take the A,C,E, and walk towards west side or take a cab to 11th Ave-14th street / Hudson St / Gansevoort Market

that area are now all nice restaurants and night clubs. the only thing is that its a long walk from subways...

south st. seaport is nice. try to get on a boat tour / see the statue of liberty too.

Yep Battery Park or Southstreet Seaport is a nice place to relax. Dont forget about dining in Chinatown and Little Italy. Broadway, Times Square, Statue of Liberty etc.. check out http://www.nyctourist.com/

Driving on Canal st with a trailer would be impossible. Hell, even on a bicycle it's difficult to move there because of all the huge crowds jumping into the street. Especially when you get near the bridge.
