Man, talk about an idiotic post. Yeesh.

Correct, I am not Korean. And? LOL, I'm a noob because until going to Korea I'd never had soju? Do you know how retarded that sounds? Why are you acting like I said "Koreans hate soju!!" ??

Well kiddo, if you study Japanese in college and are partying with former Japanese schoolmates across the pond, chances are the language itself just might come up from time to time. Going off of your rather infantile post, I can't say I'm surprised the notion didn't occur to you. Again I am reminded why I rarely venture into OT.

Hahaha... ok kid. Keep giving advice to a person who is going to korea when you've never been in korea and dont know sh1t about the culture.

No wonder some of us hate fvcktards like you, but meh. i give a crap.

dude guys, stop it. C'mon. I'm the twinkiest of twinkies there is, so I should be the ultra n00b here. I'll take any advice, lol. Don't go about seeing who's the mightier nonn00b. Any posts you guys have made, I can vicariously absorb it since, well, I have no experience, lol.

I appreciate both of your advice, so thanks to both of you.

Some things to clear up however:
It's not like I've never drank Soju before, lol, c'mon.

I know very little Japanese (Grandma speaks is fluently for obvious reasons if you know Korean history, my cousin speaks it fluently and she got me into manga, therefore anime, etc.. both languages are very similar).

I will be having a fluent speaker with me (I have a friend i'm meeting up with there)

My korean isn't THAT horrible (LOL @ the romanized korean posts), as I can converse fine with my uncle in Korea who doesn't know an ounce of english. Just that I do have an English accent, and I am guestimating that my level in Korean is around elementary school level.

I am not rich, as I'm still paying off my past college loans, lol.

I am well aware of all Korean customs when it comes to drinking, honorific system in drinking, etc..

More indignant assumptions from Mr. Personality I see...
Sorry, but you're wrong again. I stayed in Seoul and Taegu back in '04 and had a great time. As for the rest of your ASSumptions they are equally incorrect. I studied hapkido and gumdo for a few years, am a huge fan of Korean cuisine, and have a return trip to Taegu planned for next year. That and my major was Cultural Anthropology, my study focus being China, Korea and Japan. Am I some Phd who writes books and speaks Korean fluently? No, and I never insinuated that. But I doubt I'm completely ignorant on all that which is Korean, as you state.

But hey, not like I need to validate anything to some prick who acts like this thread should be off limits for non-Koreans. I responded to the OP honestly but with a little tongue-in-cheek humor as well. In Korea soju is everywhere, in the US it's not. He's never been to Korea. Hello? Any of this getting through?

I'm curious though, what exactly makes me a "fvcktard"? That I'm not Korean? That I speak a little Nihongo? If it's because I took exception to your little gem of a reponse, well to use your phrase, meh I give a crap.
I'm not Japanese for the record. But what a great comment on your personality, that you hate me but have never met me. I'm happy to say I didn't meet a single Korean like you while over there. Hope it stays that way.

Have a nice life idiot, I'll be sure to ignore all of your future posts.

That's all I meant to do, give the advice that was asked for. He was the one who started sh!t, coping an attitude with others as well.

Whatever, he don't mean nuthin. Hope you have as good a time as I did. ;)

I'm still looking for that elusive forbidden advice of sorts. Not quite sure how to explain it...
It's one of those things you look for, and only recognize once you see it, but explaining it is difficult.

When I went last Dec, I had faded hair like typical Asian Americans.

Everyday, either my cousins, aunts, or uncles would make fun of me.

TIP: Grow out your hair to long, curly, and wavey hair.

Naturally, since you are from America, girls will be interested since you are different.

But if your Korean is lacking and you can't communicate with them, their interest will fade quickly. Young Koreans are sharp and well-educated.

The ones who stay interested are the ones who are desperate and looking for a way out. Proceed with caution!

I'm in Seoul right now finishing my summer internship. When I first got here I had big hopes, but after staying here a while, I have to say I'm not fully satisfied. People will assume you speak fluently since you are Korean. Once they "know" many will try take advantage of you. ex. When you shop, they will rip you off.

I just got back from Seoul and Tokyo with my two daughters traveling standby. Make sure that you can get a flight out of Asia because getting out of Asia can be a b*tch.

Anyways, I had some great street food near Dongdumun(spelling might be inaccurate) and the girls went clothes shopping. I saw this one street vendor selling sausages from a grill that he physically carried. I was shocked and amused at the same time. I am not home yet because the nearest place to fly home from Asia is Chicago from Osaka. But now we are just winding down our trip having hot dogs and pizza from some of the best places Chicago has to offer.

By the way, Seoul just had over seven inches of rain last week during a three day period.
That is a lot of rain!
