Some things to clear up however:
It's not like I've never drank Soju before, lol, c'mon.

I know very little Japanese (Grandma speaks is fluently for obvious reasons if you know Korean history, my cousin speaks it fluently and she got me into manga, therefore anime, etc.. both languages are very similar).

I will be having a fluent speaker with me (I have a friend i'm meeting up with there)

My korean isn't THAT horrible (LOL @ the romanized korean posts), as I can converse fine with my uncle in Korea who doesn't know an ounce of english. Just that I do have an English accent, and I am guestimating that my level in Korean is around elementary school level.

I am not rich, as I'm still paying off my past college loans, lol.

I am well aware of all Korean customs when it comes to drinking, honorific system in drinking, etc..

Sorry, but you're wrong again. I stayed in Seoul and Taegu back in '04 and had a great time. As for the rest of your ASSumptions they are equally incorrect. I studied hapkido and gumdo for a few years, am a huge fan of Korean cuisine, and have a return trip to Taegu planned for next year. That and my major was Cultural Anthropology, my study focus being China, Korea and Japan. Am I some Phd who writes books and speaks Korean fluently? No, and I never insinuated that. But I doubt I'm completely ignorant on all that which is Korean, as you state.

But hey, not like I need to validate anything to some prick who acts like this thread should be off limits for non-Koreans. I responded to the OP honestly but with a little tongue-in-cheek humor as well. In Korea soju is everywhere, in the US it's not. He's never been to Korea. Hello? Any of this getting through?

I'm in Seoul right now finishing my summer internship. When I first got here I had big hopes, but after staying here a while, I have to say I'm not fully satisfied. People will assume you speak fluently since you are Korean. Once they "know" many will try take advantage of you. ex. When you shop, they will rip you off.

I just got back from Seoul and Tokyo with my two daughters traveling standby. Make sure that you can get a flight out of Asia because getting out of Asia can be a b*tch.

Anyways, I had some great street food near Dongdumun(spelling might be inaccurate) and the girls went clothes shopping. I saw this one street vendor selling sausages from a grill that he physically carried. I was shocked and amused at the same time. I am not home yet because the nearest place to fly home from Asia is Chicago from Osaka. But now we are just winding down our trip having hot dogs and pizza from some of the best places Chicago has to offer.

By the way, Seoul just had over seven inches of rain last week during a three day period.
That is a lot of rain!
