Yep, I screwed up, big time. All kinds of stupid sh!t like looking over my shoulder, not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, and two major times where I didn't follow directions. :(

Sounds like you were too comfortable driving. You need to drive like a little old woman to get it.

Yep that about sums it up. You gotta drive "by the book".

You can do it!

Lol, help him get it the easy way, I get the feeling you tricked him and thats the hardest place only to dissapoint him more ;)

To the letter!!

I got docked 4 points back when i took it for turning my wheel on uphill parking, but I needed to turn it all the way till it locked. Picky picky...but I passed...

Hope you get your license soon.

Failed my first drivers test too my not making a complete stop at a stop sign. Remembered to look over my shoulder when I drove backwards. Good thing was, I had a retest at the same day with a different tester. Passed at the 2nd test.

At that time I did not understand the importance of the complete stop. Now I know. I've seen people not patient enough to stop completely, look left and right to make sure it is clear to go ahead and then look left again. Almost got hit by a lady driver who failed to do this simple act. Good thing I stopped in time (I had the right of way) and just gave her the dirty look.

There's always a reason behind this driving rules. If you don't learn to follow this simple rules, then you don't deserve to get a drivers license.

Good luck next time and please drive carefully. ;)

I failed my first time too. They put the parallel parking cones 4 feets closer than they are supposed to be. I hit one and failed immediately. Later on I found out about the spacing and raised high hell to no avail. Keep in mind I was driving a full sized conversion van that had curtains on all the windows, so space is definitely an issue. The next time I made sure everything was right and passed with flying colors.

Heh no I'm serious...can you parallel park a 25ft space? drive through a suburban residential neighborhood at 25mph? if yes, then you can pass at Bortondale. Sure beats some of those other testing centers where you might actually have drive on some real roads :)

the only points i missed was for making a left turn too wide at a light  i would think that would be better than cutting it too short... oh well passed it anyway. good luck on your next try IDNUT

Sometimes it just depends on the instructor too. The first time my brother went to test, he was driving out old Nissan Stanza wagon... which is one of the slowest, weakest cars on the road. It was a blistering hot day, and the instructor was overweight and bad tempered. He was sweating like a pig, and was yelling at my brother to turn on the air, which also causes the car to accellerate 1/2 as fast... which my brother got yelled at for. He started complaining about how crappy the car was, and decided to fail him.

Hmm.

man... I was driving like a granny when I was taking the test. Too bad the guy was a bastard and had me parallel park into a tight space on a hill. (This was in SF btw). I got everything pretty much perfect but I did get docked off 10 points for bumping into the curb w/ my back tire - which is BS but I did get it one try #1 - which was cool b/c I had gotten my permit just 2 weeks prior.

Hit anything, including the curb, run a stoplight/sign, forget your seatbelt... I know there are a few other instant failures, i forget what they are.

good luck!...it took me two times to get my licence, the first time i almost ran over a guy j-walking...I am not a bad driver really i swear...XD

Hitting a curb at anytime? Even including when you parallel park?
There is usually a point system that can measure in the variance of the degree of f up.

try no. 1: completely unable to back up straight. tried three times. nearly got into an "accident" going back to the DMV although i maintain that car tried to hit me.

try no. 2: this woman was already PISSED the person before me "nearly" killed her and then i get her. joyous. so she sits in the car fanning herself and barking instructions at me. then she claims i turned from the wrong lane (look woman the lane wasn't even painted don't make crap up at least i didn't kill you)

try no. 3: tires were balding, not allowed to take the test

try no. 4: had to cancel, because i had no car! parents gave it away

try no. 5: finally passed, 71/100. too slow in the turns but otherwise I PASSED. i also showed up in a brand new honda civic which is a good tip if you're nervous. they tend to assume if you're in a new car you're safer. the last car i had had a massive dent on the side which my mom caused by driving into the house when trying to park. *groan*
