Seriously. I have a 2 year old tabby but my neighbor just got a tiny grey kitten with white socks from someone in the neighborhood who has more.. I'm soooo tempted to add to my collection :D

Oh my, I need to go to bed. I swore your topic said "Going to eat a cat tomorrow."

I was going to say that it tastes like chicken. :)

Only get one. There are so many stray cats around that before you know it, one will come to your door and whine, and you'll start feeding it, and before long it's inside your house. Besides, the whole damn point of cats is that they don't give a flying f*ck about anything, so it won't know it's alone.

I think that I will be the old man in a house with 50 cats when I grow older....
I swear they always seem happier in numbers.....
But that could just be me thinking wishfully....

My gut feeling tells me that you didn't win the final battle. ;) :p I smell a second cat in your house in a month or two. :)

yeah me too. :( I'd actually get a couple dozen if I didnt have to clean the litter and put out food so often. I mean, it'd be OK if I could train them all to use the toilet. then I could just buy a 50 pound bag of cat food every week, pour it into a giant dish, and not worry about feeding them either.

If it were just the food yeah, but hell you gotta give them water too, and that stuff ain't free.

Its free here! :D (landlord pays water). Although I'd have to find a way to deliever the water to them without me putting forth any effort. Get one of those automatic thingies, I suppose.

That's the trouble with cats. They're so damned oblivious that you get annoyed when you have to do anything for them.

The talk of cats and toilets made me think of Jinx or whatever that cat was called in Meet the Parents...
I was so envious of that cat owner....no litter to deal with.....now if the cat could be totally independant.....

Congrats on the decision man. Just make sure you dont rush into getting just any cat. Look for the "perfect" one even though you might have no idea what it will look like. When you come across the "perfect" one, you will make an instant connection that will last the rest of that cats life. I might be sounding sappy here, but thats how it was for me. I went to the SPCA several times looking for a cat over the course of 2 or 3 months. On my last visit I found a skinny, mangy, little kitten that wasnt much to look at but had somehow reached out and made a connection with me. He's now fully grown and beautiful creature, and a wonderful companion.

Acutally I'm a huge dog lover, its just that I my current school/work situation barely leaves me with enough time to take care of myself let alone a dog. My cat doesnt care where I am as long as I feed him and let him sleep in my bed with me. I'd love to have a dog someday... but it wouldnt be fair to it until I get out of school at least.

Glad to hear you're getting it from the SPCA instead of a pet shop. My mother does animal rescues and adoptions, works with the animal shelters and Pet Smart, she must have 15 kittens right now. They all get spayed or neutered before adoption.

There are so many freaking cats out there it's mind-boggling. You could euthanize 1,000 of them per day and not make a dent in the population just in our county.
