I've been running a Unifi AC LR AP for quite some time now. I had been using a Linksys WRT3200 for routing duties. It finally took a crap and bought a Ubiquiti USG. Lots of folks were steering me to an Edgerouter but I like the Unifi interface and went with it. Had some initial issues getting it adopted as I run my controller in the cloud on Amazon AWS.
Since I got it up an running it's been flawless. Tonight finished setting up my home security cameras with dynamic dns (even using a non stock supported service) and forwarding needed ports. All very very simple using the Controller software. Being able to make adjustments anywhere in the world should problems arise while I am away in great. I am completely sold.
No, I'm not using advanced functions but for a home user this stuff is great. For a total price of less than higher end consumer routers I have a secure, reliable and higher preforming setup for less money. It does take some more work and a Netgear or Linksys but the end result is awesome. (also am loving the deep packet inspection) Once funds allow I will be replacing my switches with Unifi gear as well, mainly to put my cameras on a VLAN.
