Goddamn Titanfall is incredible

IMO it is up with games like World of Warcraft in terms of greatness. One of the top tier of all time.

Just wanted to say that. Wow. What an awesome game.
One question. Is Titanfall the first game you've played since quitting WoW? 😛

I never played it, but I'm curious.

I'll wait for this holiday, maybe the price will go down, and if it does I'll definitely consider it.

Played it for a bit during that free weekend thing. Not really my cup of tea; found it pretty boring actually.

KT

Tried it on the XB1 when my mate bought it (hype purchase) and I still couldn't understand what was so special about it. 6v6 and it's a rather generic thing.

World of Warcraft is simply that game which became popular and defined a genre.

Does not mean it was great by any stretch of the imagination.

So WoW is not "great"

great

So a game that "was popular and defined a genre", in your own words, is not anything in the above definition? Hell, even if you weren't going by the definition of great, how many mediocre games define a genre?

* I played WoW for about 7 months from launch. Tried to go back 2 or 3 times over the year since but can never get into it. This happens with every mmo i have ever played. Just showing that I am not some sort of WoW fanboy.

This.

By no stretch of imagination does Titanfall define a genre.

Played for about 7-8 hours total, went right back to BF4/3. I have the season pass too (cheapo Mexican release deal), haven't played since release.

Unreal Tournament is the best FPS ever made and can never be beat by any modern fps today. If you disagree with me, you are wrong.

Picked up the 48hr game time on Origin today.

Titanfall is the first MP shooter I've actually enjoyed playing since Unreal Tournament.

I was terrible then, and I'm still terrible, but I'm actually having FUN in this game. I just might buy it at the end of the week.

It's not going to entertain the layman any more than a fighting game will.

However(just like a good fighting game) if you're the type to play a game seriously and want to achieve the highest level of play and have a crew to play with then it's easily one of the deepest, highest skill cap, most fun fps games to come about in years.

The scene for the game is primarily on Xbox One however, the PC player base is very small from what I heard.

It's great right up until it isn't. I got my money's worth for sure, but there just came a time when I was sick of the same weapons and Titans and maps over and over again. Definitely not a game that I see continuing to be popular in the long run, but great for the first 50-60 hours or so.

paid $80 for the complete package when it first came out... played only 3 hours and never touched it since... felt boring - it was like COD but with mechs, bots, and only 6 real players from the opposing team.... that $80 should've went towards a new GPU/CPU.... :'(

Very small yeah, been in and out of campaign lobbies toying around with my graphic settings and i keep randomly popping up in different lobbies with a ton of players i recently played against.

Wouldn't be shocked if there's less then a 200 player baseline, 6v6 and every other lobby has someone i played against recently this evening lol. It's matchmaker so it's not like i'm picking the rooms.

Titanfall was a really shallow game to me. Once the cool factor of the titans wore off yout left with really simple gunplay in an arcady shooter.

I think it would be a better game without bots. The difficulty from bots the actual players is ridiculous.

I hear this complaint a lot, but I don't really agree with it. It's better if you think of the bots as little powerups you can use at will by killing them. Killing bots reduces your titan cooldown by a few seconds apiece, which is obviously handy in almost any match. Certain burn cards give verious rewards for all kills, including bots, so that can increase their utility if used wisely. Bots aren't meant to be a challenge. Obviously respawn could have made them as deadly and difficult to kill as they wanted to, but they opted to make them mere strategic pieces to be taken advantage of while not interfering overmuch with the PvP combat. I think it's a good decision. It would be so much more frustrating if the bots were killing off real players left and right, making it more difficult for exciting PvP engagements to even occur.

Bots also give points in attrition matches, which actually can help you win. I've heard people complain about that as well, saying that they hate to see the top guys after every match be the ones with tons of bot kills. My experience has been that the guys at the top will generally have the most bot kills AND the most pilot kills as well, so they were obviously competing well on all fronts.

Maybe he meant:

The difficulty [to distinguish] from bots the actual players is ridiculous.

Yeah this game does seem awesome at first, you play a bit and then it just becomes incredibly boring pretty fast. Seems like a constant issue for people as i have heard this many times in conversation. Cool for a bit then it just bores people into regretting the purchase.

I'm really liking it so far. just got last week or so when it was on sale for $16.

I'm like level 34 now i think. Doesn't take forever to level up like some other games *cough* BF *cough*

I'd almost rather play without the titans. a lot of times I don't even use the titan. Been doing fairly well in games recently, usually ending up in the top 3.

I just run all over the place killing people, lol. Some of those burn cards are amazing and let me do even better.

Been using the smart pistol a lot. Although I don't quite understand how it works with the lock on crap. sometimes it locks quick and other times it doesn't. its like you have to stand still for it to lock...

It'll lock up a bot super fast. It takes longer to lock up a pilot...but it's probably the most annoying gun in the game - virtually zero skill needed.

I believe they have some game modes that dont have titans in them. So its more like playing COD or whatever.

Anyways I think this game is garbage and not a $60 title at all. It should have been $29.99 or something. I mean, i just dont know why people think its cool that games are coming with less content than they used too... even COD4 has about 10x the amount of content that this game has, and the same people made that game 8 years ago..
