Goddamn Titanfall is incredible

IMO it is up with games like World of Warcraft in terms of greatness. One of the top tier of all time.

Just wanted to say that. Wow. What an awesome game.

Couldn't get into it.

I did sink my teeth into the hype though, shitty.

Same here. I played it for a couple months and it's now uninstalled. It was fun at first and the parkour elements were enjoyable, but in the end it just felt like COD multiplayer with big robots.

120ish hours...yeh we had some fun with it for a few months at our weekly LAN party.

I was actually thinking about firing it up the other day- it's been quite a while....

same problem as Hawken for me - i can't see anything.

i'm good at tracking and dodging and all that WASD skills and jedi mind tricks, but i'm absolutely awful as a spotter.

these two both have too much smoke, fire, sparks, explosions and other garbage onscreen and i cant find anyone to shoot at with my amazingly accurate mouse.

I played it for a few hours with Origin gametime. I iust can't get over the fact that it is only 6vs6 and there are bots. I didn't pull the trigger when it was on sale for $20 at Amazon a few days ago.

Tried it on the XB1 when my mate bought it (hype purchase) and I still couldn't understand what was so special about it. 6v6 and it's a rather generic thing.

World of Warcraft is simply that game which became popular and defined a genre.

Does not mean it was great by any stretch of the imagination.

I honestly never understood why WoW of all games got so popular. Not saying it was bad, but they must have had some amazing marketing going on to get people who never even played games before to play it.

It was an MMO that was both accessible and highly polished. The cartoony graphics would have helped as well.

I liked it. The biggest downside I had was the constant waiting for a new level to start. It was like being at Disneyland... tons of waiting for a few mins of enjoyment.

Was this a troll attempt or serious?

I played it some...it was ok. Nothing too creative about it. It was fun for a bit but I got tired of it quickly. Might be more fun with a tight group of friends to play more competitively with or something.

Gameplay wise, it's top notch. Content wise, there's a lot to be desired. Anyhow, they just added a skirmish mode recently. 8v8 no bots no titans. It's actually pretty fun. It's on the standard maps that are pretty large, so that highly discourages camping. Not that I care if people want to play that style.

I got bored of it halfway through the PC beta. Didn't care that the full game would have more maps when the gameplay is so shallow.

It's a good game, the new update with the pilot only mode seems like a stupid addition to the game but it brings that 8v8 players i guess and kills off the Titans and bots which technically is gonna give it that COD+Crysis feel.

Found myself buying it recently, playing the hell out of it then suddenly get bored of it but today for some reason i'm reinstalling it and now wanting to play it again lol.

No? Some people really like the game, myself included. I'm still playing on a regular basis, still love the crap out of it. It's one of the most interesting, polished, consistently-enjoyable multiplayer FPS games I've ever played, ever.

Titanfall in fact is probably my personal GOTY of 2014 so far, it's still such a blast to play.

The key is to play the more in-depth game modes, like Capture the Flag. Nothing gets my blood pumping like grabbing the enemy flag, wall-running across a huge building with multiple enemies pursuing me at highs speeds, hopping on top of my buddy's titan, and then stomping our way to the finish. It's insane.

If all you ever play is Attrition though then it will get very tired and frustrating, very fast. Don't play Attrition.

Still playing Counter Strike 15 years later :awe:

I never got into CS, but I'm still playing TF2 seven years after it released. A truly good multiplayer competitive game has to last many years, otherwise it really isn't that good because the game play didn't keep you hooked.

I know I'm double-posting here, but just to add on to what makes Titanfall so awesome

A big part of the game's fun-factor is the emergent experiences; chains of events that you don't really instigate deliberately, but rather, they just happen and it's really cool when they do.

A recent example I can think of is a few days ago, I was running along the upper corridors of Rise, there was an enemy titan on the ground below me with a human pilot inside of it. I jumped on top of it, ripped the armor off and started throwing satchel charges inside his Titan to sabotage it. The enemy pilot didn't have any electric smoke to deter me, so he ejected from the cockpit and jetpacked upward so he could get get me in his sights. When I saw him eject, I jetted up as well, simultaneously mashing the button on my detonator and dealing a big chunk of damage to his Titan. We both landed on a bridge above his Titan (him before me) and I managed to kick him to death square in the face right as we landed. Then I turned around, pulled out my rocket launcher and dealt a final blow to his Titan to doom it. His Titan turned nuclear, and when it exploded the blast radius took out two other pilots as well. I was like, "YES!".

That's the kind of story I can't really muster from any other FPS.

Another example I can think of (happened a long time ago closer to release, can't remember which map), I was inside my Titan being rodeo'd by an enemy pilot. He managed to doom my Titan, and somehow in the commotion of things, I actually fell off the map into a pit at the very last minute. I pressed the eject button, shot up from my chair and managed to fly back up and barely climb my way back onto the map, whereas the enemy who was sabotaging me basically fell to his death along with my derelict Titan. Made me laugh my ass off.

That's actually pretty funny...

I remember the first time I was trying to get to the escape ship and found out that you can turbo eject out of your titan directly into the ship, lol...SCORE!

Have you heard of the Battlefield series? It's pretty obscure, but it has many moments like that.

Not on the same consistent basis that you get with Titanfall.

Whilst I'd say that Battlefield is the better game and that the best game of BF will always beat the best game of TF, those BF moments tend to be few and far between.

It's as if people are capable of thinking differently than you.
