Want a list of the churches that have been shot up and people murdered while attending mass? Since God apparently answers your questions about why he doesn't save kids in school why don't you ask him the toughie about why he can't be bothered to protect people in mass worshiping him. I'm dying to hear the answer.

If God created people and didn't give them the ability to make choices, good and bad, what would the purpose of Christianity be? The suffering/death argument is a piss poor one that's been shot to pieces an uncountable number of times in the past, but refuses to die.

No, it's been dismissed by desperate people who can't come up with an answer for it. It's never been shot to pieces.

So tell me, if you truly believe that getting whacked is all a matter of the murderer having free will, what are you in church praying for? That's another sticky one the believers dismiss because the answer troubles them. If god can't save you from bullets, accidents, bad health and pedophile priests, WHY ARE YOU IN CHURCH PRAYING FOR HIM TO DO THOSE THINGS?? Take your time on that one.

I swore I wasn't going to participate in this thread and I'm not going to............................................................

*bites tongue in half*

MODS PLEASE LOCK!

Problem is, it's an email forward from right after Columbine, in '99. It's just been updated a bit.

Christians pray for the strength to endure the crisis, not to avoid the crisis completely. Anything else should induce cognitive dissonance.

I'm all for the Ten Commandments being hung on every wall of every public building but that's me.

Don't you think having "Thou Shalt Not Steal" in front of every IRS employee would be a good thing?
More importantly, why do you think it would make a difference?

QFT

I think being reminded of higher authority is a good thing.

Even if some of said people don't believe in the Christian "higher authority?"

Personally, I think Christianity has a lot of good values in it, but I take George Carlin's view on the 10 commandments.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=9CitfTtMIx8

Especially the part about unconditionally "honoring thy mother and thy father". An extreme minority of parents are truely worth this devotion.

My dad's called my mom a b1tch to her face while she was crying in pain from cancer. I mean doubling over, shot in the stomach, hardcore pain. Multiple times. And that's just the first frozen droplet of the iceberg. My sister and I have had to do several hundred some-odd interventions (yes I've been keeping count). Should I honor him unconditionally?

I came close to having to physically pry my mother off my sister when she grabbed her and stuck her nails in. At 2 am on Christmas Day. Should I honor her unconditionally?

I've got a couple million of these.

To answer the post: More people have been killed in the name of god then anything else, so he was doing a good thing by staying out of it.

God isn't banned from schools, you can pray all you want, you can wear your religious garb, you can have a Bible Study Club, you can have a class on comparative religion. What you can't have is school endorsement of a specific religion, religion over atheism or vice versa which occurs in school sanctioned prayer and similar.

I voted let the kids talk about it if they want to on their own time like between classes or in private conversations or in a prayer club after school on school property if they want but Religion being taught as religion in the class on school time I would vote empatically no.

No problem with religion being taught as culture and history of people but as soon as it becomes proselytizing it has to go.

I find this post to be disgusting. Take it to P&N and be disgusting there.

Religion can not be openly discussed without people asserting their opinion. Doing this with school-age children influences them to the point of brainwashing. This is wrong.

Uh.. religion isn't banned in schools. You can pray all you want and wear religious clothing. Hell, my high school even had a Christian group for athletes.

You can't pray publicly at football games!!

Never been to a football game in the South huh? Should have seen the reaction last season when the Cal-Berkeley fans came to visit.

Dear God, Why are your followers always so quick to stuff words into your mouth?

Dear Concerned Forumer, fsck those retards.

Dear God, My thoughts exactly, it's almost like I'm typing all your lines for you.

All religion should be kept out of schools unless it is part of a curriculum or a social science/history class that teaches about ALL major religions equally.

Dear God,

Where were you when goatse man stretched his anus?

Where were you when he decided to take pictures?

Where were you when he uploaded them?

Meh, it's a joke. I laughed.

Nearly everything that's funny is insulting to someone.

A higher authority that not everyone even believes in. The problem with a lack of morals is not a lack of religion, a good person does not need the religion to be a moral person.

It should not be out there for us to see every day, but if students want to pray or whatever, that's fine. Just don't expect to make it a school wide thing.

Well, I've always think that if Christians think by wanting to meet their God is by leaving this world, then the next step is obvious so why don't they do it?

According to Christians, your sins are forgiven if you confess. Once confessed and you've accepted God (or JC) and let him into your life you're guaranteed a spot in heaven, or will be saved. So why wait around? Go be with your God.

I do recommend this to every other religious person, go be with your God.

Wait, you're telling me you have doubts now?

Unpossible!
