Nope. I already did an exchange with Kryptonite for the newer version which doesn't use tubular keys.

Is there a bolt cutter strong enough to chomp that lock off? I think it might be easier to snip the bike rack but as I said, I don't see anything wrong with the rack

They use small hydraulic jacks or screw jacks or FREEZE them and crack the U-Locks.

Now to the third one, it's a old 2000 Trek 820, but it's reliable as hell and I have spent quite a bit to upgrade the parts. And I managed to keep it safe for the past 2 years, and now it's gone.

The bike frame is secured nicely on a bike rack with a Kryptonite Evolution 2000 U-lock, the wheels and the seat post is secured using these quick release locks.

I have no idea how the thief did it because there's no trace of a broken lock anywhere,
and the bike rack looks fine. And the crappiest part of this whole affair, I just put on a pair of new $16 grips on it yesterday, and I just ordered some replacement parts a few days ago :|

The only explanation is, I might have not secured it at all, or improperly secured it accidentally, and the fvcking thief just carried it away. I don't know how are they going to manage to lose the quick release locks though.

So yeah. Thanks for reading the rant. I'm just so livid right now that it's giving me knots in my stomach :|:|:|

You got screw3d. :(

Sorry, couldn't resist. :p

Wait...was it on the rack on your car? Or to a bike rack on the ground? I've never had mine stolen. Trek 930. Best bike I've ever had...

Get one of those huge ass chains and a pad lock. I have seen a lot of people who wear them while they ride in NY.

A grinder will go through any bike lock like butter.

You should get a lock with hardened steel. You won't be able to saw through it with a saw, and if you get a thick one you won't be able to use bolt cutters on it. I'll pull the docs on my lock tomorrow, but you'd probably need the jaws of life to cut through it heh. Plus it comes with a warranty for theft that covers the lock and the bike up to 5k I think.

Grinder. Butter. I'm not even joking. I did a Materials Science project on bike locks; we actually got Kryptonite, Master Lock, and a couple other companies to send us locks, and we did a bunch of test.

For the record, the liquid nitrogen method isn't very practical on the higher-end locks...it shatters the cheap locks real easy, though. But who knows, maybe I just don't have the technique down.
