Man, are athiests the most arrogant, mean, assine people in the world or what. First off, we can't have a friggen Happy Easter thread in here without them jumpin in and starting to preach.

Most of them feel the need to take every opportunity to insult religious people and "teach" them the truth.

And the small percentage of people that are athiests seem to really get off on ruining things for the rest of the population. In my city, there is a really beautiful statue of the ten commandments that was donated to the city, its in a public park. It harms NO ONE, and while I'm an athiest, I don't have a problem with it whatsoever. However there's always a couple of num nuts who protest it and say it should be taken down.

When I was in High School, one athiest turd bitched about our school christmas tree, and it got removed. Arrgh, did that tree actually hurt anyone?

The constitution says that everyone is free to practice their own religion, where does it say that a park or a high school can't have a small token? NOWHERE!

Amen

An arrogant idiot claiming others are arrogant idiots. How unique!

Arrogant, mean, and assine people populate just about every group in the world.

And they all suck.

Wait, so the person who starts the Easter thread isn't preaching in their own way? I think there's a difference between wishing someone a Happy Easter <EOM> and another who comes along and goes on and elaborates on how Jesus saved us all (all... hah hah?). It's the second group that oftens plays the religious protectionism card when they're asked or ordered to take something down.

A lot of the arguments involving religious protectionism can be turned right around to "protect" the atheists. I'm not here to spout against the Happy Easter people, but when someone talks about atheists (or some other smaller group) treading on those who do believe in a deity, it's assumed the believers have the right of way to do as they wish. Why is that?

Are you really athiest?
anyways, athiest or not, there will always be those kind of people who are arrogant
just like when some Christian says to an athiest "what, you dont believe in GOD? you are going to hell"

AaronP, would you defend a park's right to have a statue with Islamic religious propaganda on it?

I'm NOT an athiest, btw. :)

I know you didn't address me exactly, and I might argue whether the ten commandments should be considered propaganda or not. However, if there was a statute with some bits of the Koran on it and it was a nice statute I wouldn't be trying to take it down, I wouldn't lobby to put one up either, but we seem to be hyper-sensitive about religion in this country.

Well, yeah, the examples you gave are definitely annoying people, but I don't think it has anything to do with them being atheists. I've had Christians try to "convert me" and "save me", basically cramming things down my throat, condemning me to hell, I mean, it's kind of an insult when people tell you you're an awful human being because you don't believe in Jesus.

Point? People like to bitch, regardless of their religion, or background, or whatever.

My final thought: The only people I hate are people who hate other people because they're different, whether it be an atheist hating a Christian, a Christian hating an atheist, or a white guy hating a black guy

Haha, whenever I see the crazy religious people on the road with signs that say "You're going to hell." I pull up by them crank my radio up as loud as it goes and squeel my tires. They get all mad and it is so funny. I am christian but I think it is just plain ignorant/worng to do stuff like that.

I can leave it alone, but get pissed when there are fags that tell me I'm going to hell. Of course, those people should not talk to atheist, but people of other religions. Anandtech is not very diverse, and it boils down to Christian vs. atheist. Logically, it does not make sense at all to get pissed, since religious folks don't have better information than I do, but I do get upset sometimes.
