God damn gas stations

Why aren't people this outraged about the price of water? Ever priced bottled water? Some of the cheap stuff is $1 per liter.

Because I can get it from the tap for pennies on the gallon if even that. I can't get gas from the tap.

Corn ethanol is pointless because it takes something like .75 gal of fossil fuel energy to make 1 gal of ethanol. We'd need crazy amounts of hydro or nuclear energy to support corn ethanol. IMHO the corn ethanol ads all over TV now are just the corn farmers shitting themselves over the recent reports on how efficient switchgrass ethanol is.

A Chevron station nearby has regular at $3.49 / gallon.

They are making an obscene profit at this point. I can see prices going up due to oil prices, but the recent jumps cannot be justified.

They have a captive audience and they know it. The government (I can't believe I'm saying this) needs to step in and clean things up a bit.

That's why something is wrong. There shouldn't be such a huge difference in prices if gas is "supposed" to be high. Consumers are being conned.

Are they ($3.29) losing money on the gas like a lot of gas stations do?

Is the $3.49 in a better location that actually allows them to make a few cents like an interstate exit?

I believe him. My partners gas station is at $2.87. He bought the gas yesterday at $2.87. Not much profit there. Then he takes a loss after all the credit card users.
