we had those same critters crawling around on the walls just a few weeks ago. luckily, fumigating the garage and spraying RAID on the corners must have drove them out of the house. for some reason, i hate them more than any other bugs on the planet... dont you tell me you squashed it with just a sheet of paper, i wouldnt do it unless my life depended on it :p

tissues are even worse, they are thinner! when we encounter these evil creations we spray raid for like ten seconds and when it finally crumples itself into a ball, we scoop it up with a thick piece of paper to throw it out of the door. yeah, we are wussies but we cant help it :D

You guys are fscking insane.

I have never, and will never spray toxic chemicals in the place that I LIVE because there were *gasp* bugs living where my house was built!

Insanity. It's no wonder people get cancer and all kinds of weird diseases; they're bathing themselves in products that were designed to be toxic.

Fun.

They creep me the hell out, the way they move...... Always trying to ambush me is the shower.

It would make a great Doom3 enemy if they could get the heebyjeeby animation right.

I have them. cw42 is right, they're faster than greased lightning, good luck with the second chance if you miss one - sometimes they see you coming and you don't even get a chance. They get up to about 2.5" long here, not sure how that page someone linked is saying 1.5". On the whole if it's between them and spiders I'd much rather take the centipedes, I'm phobic about spiders. I used to have more spiders, but I haven't seen a big one in quite a while. Wolf spiders also get to about 2.5" here.

The creepiest part about those things is how fast they move - it's like they've got fvcking wheels or something.

Ditto that. Though I'd rather not have any bugs in my home.

What really gets me is when people start talking about these bugs and defending them, saying "well, they eat the other bugs" or something like that. Well guess what, there aren't supposed to be any "other bugs" in the house for these things to eat! In the past year I have had two bugs in my apartment, one fly (now dead) and one spider that I didn't see soon enough to toss outside and which is now presumably living in my vacuum cleaner. People who are getting enough bugs that adding more bugs helps things out need to just do some cleaning.

I've always wondered why bugs stop when crawling around out in the open... are they taking a rest or something ? They're just asking for it..

That looks like a silverfish. Those things are freaking nasty.

Has it rained a lot recently? They tend to come out when it rains.

NM, you are in Newark so it has. That is definitely a silverfish then.

BTW, what'd you think of all this freaking rain? I think my car got hit by lightning last night. It was unreal.

Funny. I've always called them silverfish. Looking at Google, you are right.

I've been calling them silverfish for the last 16 years damnit! Why hasn't anyone corrected me?!?

Anyway, I've got those nasties in my house too. They are really nasty buggers.
