Go to my car, big dent on drivers door

I go to my car in the morning parked on the street. There is a big dent on the drivers side door. It wasn't there when I parked it. There isn't a note at all. Someone who didn't care to leave a note probably hit the car. What should I do? Report to insurance or pay out of my pocket to fix it?
 
If you can get paintless dent repair from Dent Wizard or places like that then go for it. They do impressive work for a really reasonable cost. I had 2 dents popped out of a bmw for 200 CAD. Really happy with their work. BTW, BMW collision centre here takes their cars to Dent WIzard and charges you about triple.

As for what to do, it's hard to tell unless we know the damage - big is a relative term, take a picture and put a ruler in the picture so we can judge how bad it is.

If it was the middle of the night and nobody was around, my guess is 90% of the general population would not leave a note.

Of course everyone on this forum and their mothers is part of that 10% that leaves a note.
 
Dent 2 ft long dented in. Can still open the door. It was on a 2001 Accord so it isn't new. But seriously, hit and run is the main point.

lol, just take a picture? This doesn't tell us the depth or width of the dent.

Also, do you care about the dent? How much is your deductible? Is it worth bothering? Maybe it's just best left as it is.

Yes, perhaps he should have said illegal immigrant. But considering most illegal immigrant are Mexicans, I can see where he "slipped up". The comment was against illegals, not Mexicans. Do you hold the same standards of PC for people who call someone trailer trash?

See, if it was an illegal immigrant or a Mexican, there's nothing wrong with saying that it was. And if someone is trailer trash, then there is nothing wrong with saying they are. But the OP has no idea who hit his car and for some reason assumed it was a Mexican illegal immigrant. It's unfortunate that people think that way. It's no wonder that a black guy driving a BMW through a nice neighborhood will get pulled over when we have people like the OP in our country.

trailer trash typically refers to white people, and it would arrogance to say different. UrbanDictionary and Google agrees with me. By all means not the definition god, but most people think white, when they think trailer trash.
