like when? i laughed too, but because it was funny and supposed to be from what i saw, the funny bits were not inconsitent with the style of the movie.

btw, here's the Kill bill references thread:) with pics!! *in the rt link;)

Ok, I saw kill bill and it's not that great like all you people are boasting about it. It seems rather grim and repetitive as well as annoying see the stiff uma thurman trying to fight. I thought the movie was annoying the way they made the story telling. Of course, the Hattori Hanzo bit was funny (Samurai Showdown reference), but other than that, wtf did I pay to see this crap. Ugh. I should've saw school of rock! DOH!

Wow...I've never seen so many limbs and heads chopped off in a movie.
I think the movie was pretty good. I liked the part when Uma talks with Hanzo (sushi guy). The dialogue was pretty funny.

BTW, what's the name of the japanese girl that plays as the bodyguard of lucy liu? She's cute :D

EDIT: Never mind..found her already http://chiaki-kuriyama.zanlius.com/images/kbpromos.html

Why thank you. I'd love to watch a land before time 7. I loved the first one.

I thought the movie was an insult to kung fu films. Everything was so fake and annoying. Uma lacked charisma and so did the other actors portraying the other characters.

Hahaha, everything was fake and annoying? Have you ever seen a kung fu film? That's what they are, fake.

Go rent yourself some good old fashioned '70s kung fu flicks and tell me how "real" they are.

Congrats, you totally misssed the point of the movie and are one of those people that doesn't 'get it.' Which, is okay I am sure many other people didn't 'get it' either.

I agree with basically everything you said. Notice nobody said this was an insult to low-budget, campy 70s kung-fu flicks. In fact, I would revise the statement to say that this movie is an insult to serious martial arts films (instead of kung-fu films since for some people "kung-fu" conjures up images of cheesy movies). At the very least, it was an insult to have Uma Thurman in a mock Bruce Lee jumpsuit. This movie was all style and not much else. Everything was so overdone.

I love the movie elitists who always feel that there is something "to get" and that people who don't like the same movies they do just don't get "it". If you disagree, go ahead and explain what us lower beings just didn't get.

I'm being perfectly honest when I say that Kill Bill was the worst movie I've seen since North.

Negatives:

Blood/gore: I have no problem with blood/gore, in fact if I had to choose an action movie with blood/gore and an action movie without blood/gore, I?d have an awful hard time deciding. Sorry, but Tarantino has no clue how to use blood/gore effectively in Kill Bill. Let?s get real, any half-wit can say ?Chop off his arm and make the blood spray out a lot!?, yet Tarantino can?t do any better than that with Kill Bill. I know I?m not the only one who got tired of seeing the same bloody scene after same bloody scene with absolutely no change to the ?Let?s decapitate them and then do it 10 more time, the audience will never see it coming!? Christ, I?ve seen all the blood and guts movies out there, and this one just made me want to puke (and I mean that literally and stylistically).

Action scenes: mediocre at best in terms of quick, surprising, or simply elegant looking moves. Not even close to realistic. Yeah, I could give a crap what Kung Fu genre Tarantino was shooting for, I?ve seen Kung Fu movies and Kill Bill is a disgrace compared to them. In terms of pure action entertainment value, Kill Bill comes no where close to any LOTR movie, Matrix movie, etc.

Positives:

Humor: Tarantino can still make a humorous movie. Kill Bill is still nothing compared to his previous all time greats (Pulp Fiction especially), but there were definitely some funny scenes. For example, after the long bloody cartoon scene, Tarantino pans back to Uma attempting to force her right big toe to move. There were many other scenes like that, and thankfully Tarantino didn?t forget how to direct those types of sick/funny scenes.

Still, Tarantino has the honor of making a movie so bad that it was officially the first movie in my life where I simply decided to close my eyes and take a snooze.

And as others have mentioned here, Tarantino is the only reason anyone would give this movie a second thought. No, don?t kid yourself, many other directors could have done better action sequences, though only few (or, maybe none) could have done it with the same hard hitting humor.

From 0-10 I give this movie a 0.1, which only North was able to surpass with a 0.0. Yes, I?m exaggerating, but Kill Bill was indeed terrible. All IMO of course. :)

EDIT: Btw, I felt like kicking some of the Tarantino nut-huggers in my theater. It wasn't really because they knew the script by heart, it was mostly because they rehearsed it during the movie. :disgust:

Here's something I've wonder for quite some time. Where do you people get your ideas from? I mean does a movie really have alternate meanings? I mean, geesh, there's only one story line right? How do you interpret the story as being something else and being self-explanatory to those that do not know wtf the movie is about? Sure, the director knows what his movie means, but do you really know? How can you determine your opinion as being correct? Why should we agree with your opinion if we can't see it the same way? Is it wrong to see the movie as being straight forward for its story and not think that there's a hidden meaning behind it?

I just have to say, WTF?

That's what I think sometimes too. Just because you interpret the movie in some way doesn't mean you have some kind of deeper knowledge of the movie's message. It just means you interpreted it that way.

I didn't really make it clear in my previous post but I thought this movie fell in the Ok-Good (5 or 6/10) range.
I enjoyed Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs more.

BTW those red dots are are called CAP codes put in by studios to track pirates/prints... it was never a problem before but this year for some reason they are getting HUGE (you know it's a problem when the regular moviegoing public notices them after being around for several years.) Being a projectionist I LOATHE these dots but what can you do. I take the time and effort to make sure there is no dirt on the print whatsoever anywhere(which is magnified 80x) and the MPAA goes and puts these huge red dots.. ugh..

As for the blood gore... DUH.. didn't you see the anime sequence? blood sprays everywhere and it always has.. tarantino was just paying his homage I guess along with the homage to a million other things in the movie.

Does anyone think that the movies QT writes but doesn't direct (NBK, True Romance) are better than the ones he directs?

I thought the movie was decent. I don't think they should have split it. It was nothing spectacular but it was better than average.

My advice if you haven't seen it is wait for the second part. Then, watch them together like they should have been. I feel like I paid to see half a movie.

From the previews, it doesn't seem like a "serious" movie. It seems like a sort of Snatch-esque genre. Did I get the right impression?

I got this movie, I understood what QT was doing with it but while I enjoyed it, I didn't think it was great. Maybe if they had shown the full Movie instead of just half I might have felt different. I left the theater feeling like I was short changed.
