hmmm, better than snatch. eh? guess ill have to watch this, since snatch. is one of my all-time favorite movies...

well... not that it's better than snatch... they're very different movies.

i like 'ze germans' but i also like super long sword fights.
Well then why did you watch this movie? It hasn't got sword fights; it's got sword dancing. You want sword fights watch Rob Roy, Gladiator, Braveheart, lord of the rings, etc.

ok, then could you compare the 2 on an entertainment value....say on a scale of 1-10..like snatch. for me would probably be a 9.

the thing that bugs me about this movie is its split up into 2 volumes. sure, i dont mind throwing another $10 to finish a movie.

then Tarantino said he's going to release vol. 1 and 2 separately on dvd, then make a deluxe edition. ::cough:: double dip ::cough:: but on a side note, i usually enjoy his works, its just that im not completely committed to this one.

I read the script and thought it was a cool story. I just wondered at what point they would stop it for volume 2.

Screw that.

Personaly id rather any movie be split up to be complete.

The alternative would be to cut out alot of stuff and making it only 1/2 the movie. And the DVD release is so that you can buy the first part before the second part comes out. Now releasing the second part alone and then the dual edition is a rip though.

Think about it if LOTR was condensed into 1 or even 2 movies how much less the experiance would be. One could say that LOTR is milking you for 3x as much but we all know that the story required 3 parts to be complete. Even then the first movie felt like it was skipping around in the middle just to make it fit a timeframe.

You know the worst is when they record a movie at 3 hours, then chop stuff out the middle to make it 1.5 and so you get lost in the middle because they didn't do a good job with the edit.

From what I read, the finished Kill Bill was only a little over 3 hours. I think Mirimax was mad he went over budget and decided to get some of that money back. Split it into two and charge people double to see the movie. Better hope the hype and reviews stay positive for the first one.

Yeah.. all three LOTR movies would be almost a 10 hour epic if they combined it. Kill Bill was just chopped in half because the suits decided it was too long for the American public.

This would have been 3 and a half. From what the director has said he is mad they split it on him... and from what people have said who have seen the movie they all would have sat through another hour and a half of this movie.

Heard the ending is unsatisfactory.

People will know that the movie is untimely and pureposely cut in half.

It should actually be a 3 hr movie.

The VOL I and II is pure MAKETING BS.

I find the entire "hater" "insult" interesting. All it is is an affirmation that somebody doesn't like something; it's hardly an insult.

And yeah I hate this movie, although I've never seen it so there. BOOYAH! I maintain the fact that it doesn't have sword fights; it has sword dancing. Now, if the ads were not part of the movie then I'll retract that comment.

I read an article yesterday in the LA Times stating that Quentin Tarantino and Lawrence Bender (producer) have renegotiated with Miramax giving up alot of their profit share in order to help cover for the marketing of the second movie. Supposedly the movie cost about 60 million to make and the marketing will cost 35 million and 25 million respectively. This movie has gone way overbudget. Tarantino shot too much footage, and instead of just throwing it all away to make a neat little 90 minute movie, he decided to keep it all knowing Miramax will cover him. Everyone says they're just trying to make more money off the movie goers...hell they've already spent enough money already, I'm not a tightwad to bitch over 2 movie tickets 5-6 months apart.

well i wouldn't judge it on ads, the reviews are quite good so far.

i thought once upon a time in mexico had an awesome trailer, sadly the movie sucked. the school of rock trailer didn't do it for me, but the movie was awesome.

that being said, i'll be seeing it tommorow! err it comes out tommrorow right? two thumbs up from ebert and roeper already.

No, just wait. LotR will have a special edition DVD for each movie. Know what's next, IMO? Another boxed set with even more extras. I'm getting the deluxe or whatever DVDs for each and that's it. I'll probably do the same with Kill Bill. However, I've seen three movies this year now, two simply because I was tired of friends bugging me about it...and $10? You people must get all the popcorn and everything! Get the $5 tickets and bring some reisens! :)

The review in today's local paper gave it 1.5 stars out of four. Basically described it as one bloody scene after another, no coherant plot.

Most definitely an awesome movie to see. I think if you read a little background about him making the movie it will make it more enjoyable, else you may not 'get it' per se.
