OMG, that is the most blood, guts, limbs and general body destruction that I have ever seen packed into a time slot of less than two hours.

Just saw it....

WOW.

:Q

Unfortunately I had a friend who was being a cry baby and making a comment everytime a limb was cut and a head was popped. Ruined the over all experience, I had to tell him to shut the fsck up many times (the lady beside me cracked up when i did that), but I still loved the movie. Now.. where is that torrent... :D

What did your friend expect from the most violent movie this side of NC-17?

It's the best movie of the year so far, and will continue to be until Return of the King.

And no, I didn't forget about Matrix Revolutions. I'm just sure it'll be better than Matrix Revolutions.

I find the entire "hater" "insult" interesting. All it is is an affirmation that somebody doesn't like something; it's hardly an insult.

And yeah I hate this movie, although I've never seen it so there. BOOYAH! I maintain the fact that it doesn't have sword fights; it has sword dancing. Now, if the ads were not part of the movie then I'll retract that comment.

ok, now i can say with authority that you are totally wrong!! i just saw it and... wow!! its no crouching tiger hidden tarentino at all, its brutal violence hack slash fest:) and its got style! and oddly enough, its pretty funny, sometimes disturbing since you laugh and then get disturbed right after. the fights are well choreographed and shot, and well, the trailer really doesn't do the movie justice, not sure how it could:p

tarentinos got his game back baby! hopefully part 2 is just as good.

i must say, it does seem to need the 2 part split, at 3 hours i think you'd go numb from overload. course the people whining about the split HAVENT SEEN IT. talk about talking out of your @ss;)

still, it was surprising, i went in hoping for the best since ebert liked once upon a time in mexico too, which i thought was a total turd.

one shouldn't read too much about the film before going obviously, ruin surprises.;)

and omfg, the new Matrix Revolutions trailers and Return of the King trailers played back to back! i creamed ;)

nice to see a good action movie out, the run down looks like a turd now:)

Punch that stupid cry baby in the face next and cut off limb of his or two, so he really has a reason to be crying. :D

Apparently the elderly couple in the row in front of me didn't like it (they walked out during the head banging scene). But I did.

Hands down the best movie I've seen this year. It also wins for bloodiest, most limbs lost, and best sword fight having over 50 people in it. :)

I knew the moment the movie started with the old fashioned Shaw Brothers logo, scratchy film and all, that I was in for a treat.

While it might not be for everyone I think the majority of people in this forum, being the geeks that they are (me included), would like this movie. It's basically a live action anime/kung fu movie. The spraying blood was taken straight out of Fist of the North Star. The eye part (those who've seen it know what I'm talking about) was right out of a Hong Kong kung fu flick. The suit that Uma wore while on the bike was a nod to Game of Death.

While it had some of the traditional Tarantino flashback, it wasn't overused. It didn't jump around a la Pulp Fiction, it was more straightforward than that. I thought it was a bit odd when it jumped to an animated flashback, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment.

I didn't care for Crouching Tiger all that much, I thought it was too artsy to be a good kung fu flick. I've been a huge fan of the Hong Kong films for 15 years, and seen hundreds upon hundreds of them. Kill Bill is more akin to the old fashioned cheesy action movie where Crouching Tiger tried to be artistic and serious.

All in all, this movie gets a huge stamp of approval from me. I don't know that I'd say it's the best movie ever, but it's definitely going to end up in my DVD collection. I give it a 9 out of 10.

i couldn't say it was the best movie of the year......it wasn't bad either
i thought it was worth the 6 bucks to see it (and i think it will be worth the other 6 bucks to see the second half even though im a poor college student.....)
and its a typical tarinteno film (including the somewhat out of sequenceness like pulp)
if you understand what he is going for then he did a pretty good job of it.....(he was going for a slight enhancement / remake of old 70s kung fu movies)

and it does have a plot....its not just mindless fighting the entire time

and omfg, the new Matrix Revolutions trailers and Return of the King trailers played back to back! i creamed
and damn you we had crappy trailers at my showing :-( i didn't get either of those

I loved Pulp Fiction & Reservoir Dogs but i'm wondering what happened with this movie.

I am an avid anime fan along with martial arts/action films but this movie didn't really do it for me.

The whole theater laughed several times during this movie that i don't think people were supposed to laugh at, the beginning lines just seemed poorly played. The music was awesome as usual along with the great cinematography, but I think the movie was overly gorey. Maybe i was expecting too much from this movie but I was fairly disappointed in it.

Where does Snatch fit in with your grouping? Wrong director...
