Its free, easy on the specs, and surprisingly fun and addictive.
Its basically a top down view online WWII RTS naval game, its not too complicated either. Think diablo II, not a complicated game, but it can be if you go and get bogged down in the numbers etc.
What you do is, you start off with a neutral nation ship, a frigate, and some level 1 crew. You join games and fight with other ships. Its awsome in the beginning cause everyone is kept at a certain level in the "noob" square where all the beginners games are hosted so you dont come face to face with a battleship when your still a frigate. Unless of course you want to. By hitting other ships you gain credits (for buying a better ship and upgrading your current ship) points (for getting new sailors, everyones always got an abundance of points) and lastly but most important experience (to level up your sailors). When you reach level 12 which dosent take very long, you get the choice of choosing one of four nations, these are as follows:
Royal Navy (britain) - Britains got some ok early game destroyers, their armor is the best in the game and their end game battleships are or were the best.
Kriegsmarine (germany) - The best destroyer in the game is from the Z99, every n00b has one of these to cruise around in, fun ship. Good torps too, not rivalling IJN but still decent.
USN (USA) - The second best destroyer is the DDX class from the USN, its pretty decent apart from it only has one torpedo launcher. Theyre really early ships are very good and people simply stick with the first USN ship they get and upgrade it until they can afford a DDX.
IJN (japan) - These guys are what people call TW's (Torpedo wh*res) This is because certain japanese destroyers have no real purpose other than to torpedo other ships. Their torps do more damage, go faster, go longer and they have more than any other nations ships. Very fun nation once you get a mid level destroyer and start torping everyone else.
I cant go into later game play as i havent tried it yet, the destroyers are tons more fun IMO. Generally better bigger ships win in battle (which can be up to 48 players) but skill is far more important. One last thing, this game is free until level 30, when you hit 30 you either pay for the game or get stuck with an experience penalty. I personally would never pay for it as its no world of warcraft, i just deal with the penalty (not sure what it is, think its 50% since im level 33 at the moment). So download it and give it a try! Im soviet779 on arizona server (theres two servers in the US and one in japan). You'll find me noob bashing in my Z99

Try to get version 1153 if possible as its the latest. Some very old versions cant actually be updated but the ones on those sites listed should be ok. I had the beta installed and it couldnt use the auto-updater to update, so as close to 1153 as possible would be best. Remember to join the ARIZONA server So that i may torp you at some point
