Wow...what a concept.

95%? Which half of a state has such a law? 😛

Hopefully the gate I have on order is going to solve the problem. After it is installed, I definitely will press charges against any trespassers I find inside it.

Hire Blackwater

Uh, part of the point of this rant is that I don't want to get shot by some armed idiot.

I understand. When I was a kid my family lived in rural upstate NY. One day after school, I was walking in the woods and I heard a bullet shoot by my ear. I hit the ground and crawled home.

Awww, poor poor Blackwater - what did they do to deserve such hate?

Oh wait ... nm

Ha, doesn't sound like he lives in Oak Ridge anymore. 🙂

NE TN is ripe with game right now. My great uncle just built a house in Rogersville at the base of the mountain and basically sits outside every morning watching deer and other animals just walk through the front yard on their way to the next patch of woods. I can't wait to hang out there for Thanksgiving.

i dont know the laws of your state but being in CT its real easy to put a stop to this.

1. Let them drive through uninvited.
2. Call game warden and let them know that hunters are on your private property illegally and are shooting and littering.
3. warden shows up finds hunters, fines them, maybe takes their hunting license away too, and if in a good mood confiscates their weapons and if in a really good mood takes their vechiles as well
4. profit

If someone took my vechiles, I'd be pissed. My wife only makes them once a year and freezes them for those special days. I like mine with hotsauce. You?

nest is relatively cheap to make...real machine gun would depend on license you have though.

There used to be plans online to make your own gatling gun...I don't know if they are still around.

Primitive but effective.

That sucks OP. I would be just as upset. I hope your gate works out. If it doesn't then the only thing I can think of is to add an incredibly large fence surrounding your property. It sounds like your land is too large to regularly catch these guys so I can't think of anything else you can do.

I want one of those robotic turrets from aliens.

Why not pneumatic nail guns? Aim it at tire level, use a laser trip, voila, instant non lethal disabler.

OP,

Have you thought about putting a gate across the road? I know that it would be expensive but would it be cheaper than you getting in fight, shooting someone, or having a loved one shot by a hunter. Also it would improve your privacy and reduce your stress level.

One is on order right now. Hopefully it will get here in time for me to install this weekend.

20 bucks in chain will work too.

pics of the gate when it gets put up?

Sure, I'll try to remember. Actually, the gate is already there, but until this weekend I never kept it closed because I don't have an automatic opener/closer installed yet. It's a real pain getting out of the vehicle, opening the gate, getting back in the vehicle, driving 30 feet, getting back out of the vehicle, closing the gate, then driving off. Although that is exactly what I've been doing since Saturday.

I totally don't blame you for your feelings and actions. It's your land, people need to respect your wishes and stay out. If I were fortunate enough to have property like that, I sure as heck would feel the same way.

People actually worry about things like that?

You wouldn't worry if someone repeatedly broke into your house? To me, trespassing on my land is the same thing.

Touche'. I guess I never really thought about it like that.

I've never been hunting so I'm probably pretty ignorant on this, but do hunting accidents (where someone shoots some other dude) happen that often?

Are you really that fucking stupid or do you just play the part on ATOT?

I don't live in a place, nor would I ever live in a place where I would even ::begin:: to think about that sort of thing.

Shouldn't you be electrocuting the mentally handicapped and anally penetrating a cousin?

In other news:

Blow me.

I would be even more concerned about my family accidentally getting shot.

You need a sign that says "Hunters will be shot on sight."

I love hunting, but stay on your own damn property.

I don't have anything against hunting. When I was younger, I did a little hunting with my Dad. But damn it, stay off my land!!! Why don't they think that my posted signs apply to them??!??!?!

Because in their minds they're not "trespassing", they're just "hunting".

Try posting "no hunting" signs as well. That might help.

..I installed alum.live stock gates on my road. I can lock em out but most of the time they see the gate and go the other way. Got 12' gate for 60.00 bucks and bolted it to a cedar post. It looks good too.
