wrong. just leave a copy of the email on the server. all the pop accounts i've used have had that option. (ucla, yahoo, hotmail, gmail, earthlink)

what is the big thing with POP3?

if you have multiple email accounts, like for school, work, junk, etc, you can check them all at once rather than logging on separately at their respective websites.

Pity, I can't get the POP settings to work for me. I wonder if that's part of their phased approach.

Why publish the settings if it isn't supported yet? Ah well, no biggie.

but the beauty of gmail is that you can download a local copy, but don't have to delete it from the server since there is a gig of space.. you have the benefits of both webmail and using your own client.

Yeah I noticed this 2 days ago. Wow! Gmail has just become my main email account. With POP access, there's no ads!!!! Well...at least for now.

Let the invite madness start again!
