anybody know how i can setup outlook, or another email program to separate each gmail account, instead of lumping everything into 'local folder'? i've got two gmail addresses that i want to use with an email client, but has not been able to separate emails from the two.

I'd like to know how as well. thanks in advance

3rd request for an answer to this as well.

I have multiple gmails and would like to download the emails but in separate folders.

So create multiple identities in outlook express

Umm. So if i activae POP3 I cant web-login to check my EMail? Also pop3 is so you can set it up in outlook or something right?

Great deal, works fine with outlook express. Forgot the
Advanced

pop3 port 995 using ssl
smtp port 465 using ssl

Once I did this it worked.
Will recommend gmail even more now.

If you have separate accounts, Thunderbird is another option. It can handle separate mailboxes for different accounts. Also, is anyone having their sent folder downloaded into their inbox also? All my mail (sent and incoming) is downloaded into my inbox.

In many pop clients, you can create a rule that will move messages received via a specific account into a separate incoming mail folder. In Outlook 03, open the "Rules and Alerts" dialog on the Tools menu. Create a blank rule, and select "Check messages when they arrive". On the next screen, you can select "Through the specified account". Click the underlined "specified" and it will prompt you for which account to move message for. Continue on to select the mail folder to put them in. HTH.

With ZoneAlarm, I had to add the gmail ssl ports to the list of allowed ports for Outlook.

in OE, you will have to make "RULES". Make separate folders for each Email account, and then setup a rule where you scan the email and direct them to that account's folder only. Thunderbird ofcourse makes it much simpler by doing that automatically.

But Thunderbird has option for only 1 SMTP server where all outgoing mail is from the same single server. Anyone knows if in Thunderbird, you can have options of sending mail from different SMTP servers as in OE ?

...so do I have to open those 2 ports in my router to get my OE to authenticate with gmail??
It depends on your router. Most home routers have everything open (fewer tech support calls that way). If you're at work, it's a different story. You'll have to check the router config.

In Oulook Express, under "Files" click on "Identities"
then click on "Add New Identity" and go from there.

I use a separate Identity for each email address.
When you open one "Identity" you can go to a different "Identity" (email address) by clicking on "Switch Identity" in the "File" menu.
