and it has to be something about it other than the interior.

The Sunbird was pretty crappy. They'd normally have overheating problems due to the QC issues on their Brazilian-made 4 cylinder engines. Also, their front-wheel drivetrains are notorious for being overly loud. I would expect them to reach an average of 120k before needing major service. Those numbers are terrible compared to Japanese models from the same era.

These days, I think the Q.C. is better, but it left a bad taste in my mouth after owning one of these lemons.

Why aren't buyers getting this vehicle at the employee price? I thought only the corvette didn't fall under the program.

Exactly. The closest thing to the Solstice for the price is a Miata. The current 2005s (not the new one) starts at $22,600~, almost $3,000 more than the Solstice.

Pricing on the 06 (next generation) isn't released, but shouldn't be too much more than the current.

Regardless, nothing is comparable for the price of the Solstice.

Obviously you've never driven a late model trans-am (pontiac's camaro).... those things simply molested anything in their price range.... 29K and the engine out of a 'vette???

absoultley disgustingly powerful... the WS6, 6 speed made something like 360HP (underrated to 325 on sticker to keep it from sabatoging vette sales) and weighed LESS than the '05 mustang V6 and drove like satan was under the hood!!! A modern day batmobile... I too think most ponticacs suck.... The grand prix is just as bloated as any other GM sedan, the sunfire is sh!t on 4 wheels, the grand am and G6 are completley upstaged by the camry and altima/maximas, but Pontiac has definitley put out amzing cars in recent years...
