I think you were actually serious about this in the "I want to rice my Civic" thread.

"Nothing could be further from the truth as GM spokesman Vince Muniga has revealed to Edmunds. This is because cars like the Camaro SS, Corvette ZR1 and Corvette Z06 are all regularly engineered. "They did not go through HPVO. Most people did not realize that. They are safe," Muniga said."

As for other models like the Cadillac CTS-V, Muniga explained that the performance saloon is a regular part of the CTS lineup and that it will stay for the foreseeable future. "The CTS-V will continue through the life cycle of the product. If they are regular production cars, they will continue through the model run, whether it's an SS Cobalt or an SS HHR."

Uhhh...OK. So basically every car that people thought were going away aren't, because either they aren't actually HPVO, or they are HPVO but are "regular production cars." So what exactly is going away? Can anyone name an HPVO that isn't considered a regular production car, since this GM spokesperson didn't?

Not everyone :) I basically said the same thing previously, that future development was iffy, but current models are totally safe as long as they're selling.

Read between the lines above "life cycle of the product" .. it's pretty open-ended, but only vaguely committed to current model runs, not for the next generation of each vehicle class.

GM is doing what they think will keep them alive. that IS the honest truth. isn't "patriotism" being a fanboy? i see that all over these forums.

and for that guy above who commented on what he thinks i drive; i drive an 05 accord v6. got a problem? it hasn't been to the dealer or shop once in the past 4 years.

4 years?, your due for an oil change, as for the "fanboi" comments against you, you deserve it, you come on every thread with nonsense like "Japanese are cheaper to repair" with nothing to back it up.This is the US of A and if you don't like patriotism, GTFO..

i do my own oil changes along with other fluid changes.

dont have time to do research for you, but we can do some together with me, go to your car dealer and get a quote on how much it'd be to fix a wiring problem with the headlights? say its not the bulb, and its not the signal stalk. without anymore info, ask them generally how much it'd be to fix? I had another accord fixed for $50 which also included a new bulb.

why? i like living here, but nobody says you need to be patriotic or "buy american" to live here. i'll buy the best car my money can get me. i'll even tell you why i purchased the accord. i got it for $24.5 NEW; accord EX v6 w/ navi + leather. i purchased it for the following reasons: it has always has the highest reliability among cars sold in america. it has the highest resale rating in its class. 5 star safety rating, fully loaded w/ power everything leather navi 6 disc etc. it was faster than all american cars in the same class and price range. it is cheaper to fix (yes, it is cheaper to fix in NYC.) aftermarket parts are way more widely available for the accord than ANY american car in the same class. please say "continue" if you want me to continue the list of why i purchased it over any GM.

This is the US of A and if you don't like patriotism, GTFO..
"THIS IS THE US of A and if YOU LIKE IT, STOP BUYING PRODUCTS MADE OUTSIDE OF THE US, OR GTFO," else don't make comments like those.

You still didn't provide any evidence that they're cheaper, you just keep claiming it without proof. And aftermarket parts are more widely available? Which parts are we talking about? You can't magically pull things out of your ass and expect us to believe it all.

This is because he is full of shit.

The MSRP of a 2005 Honda Accord EX alternator is $1052.
The MSRP of a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix is a mere $244.

These prices are for genuine OEM parts. 404 cheaper Honda parts not found.

I thought you could get the Colorado with the V8 already. It has been on their webpage for awhile now. I have the 3.5L i-5 in my 05 regular cap Xtreme and it will get out of the way no problem. Although in a 4x4 crew cab, I do think it is a little under powered. I actually wanted them to make an SS Colorado or a Cyclone, but I guess that is out now. :-(

parts such as engines, intakes, exhausts, headers, etc. theres oh so many for the accord (along with other japanese competitors minus camry). i dont see many for the mailibu.

+ i was serious, the guy asked what options he could have to modify his civic. he was obviously looking for aftermarket parts.

Talk about picking and choosing to fit your needs. On the same site I found a Malibu alternator for $112 and the Accord alternators went as high as $300 but no Malibu alternator went higher than $165.

Also, of course you're going to find more aftermarket parts for the Accord, the F&F crowd loves them. Who the hell has ever seen a modded Malibu (not the old school ones).

I just want to know if you actually mod it since you were giving out advice.

Your forgetting another important cost of ownership, insurance. Since it's doubtful my Malibu will ever be the target of thieves it's insurance is scads cheaper than an accord. Oh, and I don't care about mods, 200 HP is plenty for me, I bought it as transportation, not for the potential to race it.

Oops, sorry, your comparing the cost of a BASE 4 CYL Accord alt.. with the Alt. that goes in the Malibu V6 LT. The atl. for the BASE Malibu is $112, scroll down the page to see it. The $139 dollar one is a HO unit as the V6 models have a lot of electrical accessories the base models don't have.

I have no doubt you would install cheap no-name remanufactured junk on your car. Me? I'll take OEM parts thank you, my car deserves no less.

AEM INJEN GREDDY are nots junk brands. they're probably higher quality than your OEM parts. go have a look at ur stock instake system, its full of obstructions. 90 degree angles and PLASTIC. my AEM v2 intake is NOT PLASTIC and is pretty much straight through for maximum intake.

on my vehicle, performance parts i have installed are: AEM v2 CAI

And... Where exactly is your proof of this? I can vouch for aftermarket quality versus OEM parts, seeing as how I've dealt with them for years in rally and auto-cross vehicles. Aftermarket is FAR superior to OEM, when you go for the right brands. Don't bullshit.
