How much can I expect to pay for a glock 23 used? I have a friend, who worked as a gunsmith two years ago, that is going to shop around with me but I want to get another opinion on pricing. I trust him but a person can never have too much information. I just want him to look at the gun to judge the wear and tear of the gun.

BTW, don't try to bring the Sept 11 stuff into this. I have been planning to buy a gun for about 2 years, I just haven't had the money to spend until now.

Thanks,

Jim

500-600 maybe? Don't know for sure. I was looking at a 22 the other day, guy wanted 550 for it with two spares and a magazine speed loader.

Are there any Internet resources to find decent prices that anybody knows of?

The least expensive place to but will be at a large gunshow. The only other option is to use the gunshow prices as the basis for a price from a local shop.

here is one new.

I would expect to pay around $350 depening on condition, mags, etc. Personally, I don't like the safety (or lack thereof) of the glocks. If you have the $, take a look at HK. I think I will be getting their USP .45 w/ the framemounted tactical light.

Thanks for the post Jackhammer, I know all about the safety of the glock. I was looking at the H&K and the Glock. I picked the glock. It is more about how comfortable you are with the gun and the glock fit my hand better.

get yourself a Deagle or the USP for only $100 more. ;)

And where is your evidence? That is like me saying AMD sucks. It is just pure opinion and unless you are willing to back something up then I will most likely just ignore what you have to say. I personally think that since a lot of law enforcement use glocks they can't be all that bad.

True 'dat. :)

And don't listen to that guy, Glock makes nice weapons. If you have fired it and like how it shoots, then go with it.

Also don't get me wrong either. If someone came up with some good reason not to get a glock then I am still open to suggestions :)

I would just have to go give any other suggestions a try.

Thanks for the advice guys. My friend said he got his glock 23 for $315 but that is because he knew the owner of the gun shop. I think $375 is about right for a used one.

Thanks again,

Jim

haha, dont get Desert eagle if youre looking for protection. The muzzle flash alone will bind you in the dark... (not to mention it will knock your teeth out when it kicks back :D)

I have had a Glock 21 for 6 years and just got a HK USP in .45. The USP is better but the price diff is way more then $100.00. I don't know anyone who shoots who would compare either of these to a Desert Eagle, the DE are just big, expensive, and in exotic calibers, if you shoot them they are ok at best, while the HK and Glocks are actually nice to shoot. You shouldn't pay any more then $400 but should be able to get one for like $350 depending on what else you get with it. I would try to get the third gen Glock though, I like the feel of it better and the rail is nice like the HK.

firing squad did an extensive CS review where it took like 7 chest shots to be killed by a glock, whereas the Deagle only needed 3 ;)

My sentiments exactly. Sometimes I wonder how much gun advice is dished out on this forum by people who've only fired one with their mouse...

Slipperyslope, try here for a good firearms forum. I looked at glocks myself, but I heard horror stories about people using reloads in them and having them blow up (because the unjacketed bullets could leave a little lead residue in the barrel, which would build up over time, and since the glock will fire if it's not chambered fully, the gun explodes). Mind you, I heard this second hand (but from a guy I trust). Since I reload my own pistol (and rifle for that matter) ammo, I went with an old standby, the Government Model 1911. It's a little tricky to conseal it, but not impossible on my 6"4 235lb body :p

Man. You guys are quoting some prices that seem too low . . . all the gunshops around here are at least 500-600 for an average pistol. The last sporting goods store I went to had the Desert Eagle .357 for $999.

Is it just BFE-disease, or what?

There's an awesome gun show in Denver every month, but the people I've talked to haven't said anything about their prices being much lower than those up here.

Let a gun explode one time and the so-called experts will bad mouth it and blow off there mouths.....Don't take care of any firearm and you are asking for trouble.

I've shot thousands of rounds through my Model 21. About half were unjacketed bullets. It is the most reliable auto pistol I've ever owned. I've owned dozens!
