The .40 cal is a round without a purpose....for a small gun get a 9mm...for a large gun get a .45....

Well I've shot both and own an HK, I know the HK is a better pistol for me. Glocks and HK's are both good guns but I feel that the gun chooses the owner. I was in the market for a glock and just for giggles I picked up a HK and it felt way better. I paid $75 more for it but I feel it was money well spent.

I have alot of friends who also owned glocks but switched to HK.

A used glock would run around 450 depending on condition, but I would suggest buying a new one at any costs.

Like any tool it needs cleaning, I never fire my HK or any firearms without cleaning first.

Just to let you know, I am going to the range tomorow and am going to rent a Sig Pro. Which is a .40 polymer that is supposed to be very accurate. Will let you know how it goes. (BTW... they go for around $400 new)

Sig Pro is a wonderful little piece... gives the Glock a good run for it's money if you compare them one on one. Only problem with them, is that they aren't enough like the all steel Sigs to appeal to those who already own Sigs, and not enough like the Glock to win over their fans. Otherwise, it's a fantastic gun, one you should definitely look into. I thought long and hard about trading in my P229 for one a while ago.

Speaking of SIGs for concealment with a good round, try the P245. It's more expensive than the Glock, but it definitely fits the criteria you've specified. Some day I'll buy that one!

My current home defense weapon is a bolt action Mauser (backed up with Ruger P89, but the rifle is a lot more fun). ;)
