He'll FINALLY be able to get that lobotomy he's always wanted...and will promptly forget about the money.

I made a thread about what id do if I was a billionaire.

1. I would go to my old elementary school and give every kid a gaming laptop

2. I would build boarding school for orphans and foster kids.

3. I would build hotels for people born in 1994

4. I would breed the fastest air land sea animals

5. And just now I've been thinking about creating electric vans with a generator as a engine.

You do realize that an engine converts fuel into mechanical energy while a generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy? You cannot simply replace one with the other.

The generator will provide the electricity.

Electric vehicles runs off electricity.

The purpose of this vehicle is to have much more power that the alternator can't provide.

What I am trying to point out is that a generator will not provide electricity without something that produces the mechanical power to spin it (and that the amount of electrical power a generator can produce is directly tied to the amount of mechanical power available to it). Without an engine, the generator in your electric van will produce as much electrical power as a standard alternator - with the engine turned off. None.

I'm going to explain his thinking but I take no responsibility for it.

He wants to get an electric van and remove the main battery. Then put a diesel generator where the engine would be in an ICE van and use that to power the van.
He wants to do this so that homeless people with gaming laptops will have somewhere to charge their laptops on trips into the woods.

I've said this like 4 times, I was planning on getting a electric van that has its giant lithium battery ALREADY REMOVED!

I wasn't going to remove the battery myself.

OK. I'm not sure that changes much though. Removing the battery is going to be the easiest bit.

I'm sure it'll cost a lot less money to get a electric van with a battery already removed.

The battery is supposed to be the most expensive part of an electric vehicle.

Yeah, because they dont work without them

The most expensive part of your van is going to be rebuilding the entire van to make it work the way you want it to!

Why cant you just use a normal ICE van with an inverter in?

BECAUSE I WANTED TO POWER AT LEAST 5 GAMING LAPTOPS AT ONCE!

I doubt a regular vehicle can power that many gaming laptops.

I want to power 5 at once so I could have a full team on games like counter strike 2.

Why do you think that a generator (which is just an engine) will provide more power than an engine thats already fitted in a van and is bigger than the engine in most generators?

Also: Random question. Do you have a driving license?

I heard that generators produces a lot more electricity then the alternator on a car. I don't think I could power 5 gaming laptops at once with just using the alternator.

Like I said, I wanted the primary function is to produce electricity and it's secondary use is to drive the van.

And I don't have a driver's license yet, I never had enough money for a car.

You can put more than one alternator. Pro audio setups will tend to run multiple alternators as their systems draw massive power, like 10's of kw.

Just a random find:
