If there were a similar level of apps development for Android as there is for Apple, and there isn't...

I'm just curious if this is actually a problem you've personally run into. My only experience atm is an iPod Touch (2G) so I've looked around the App Store. Much of what I've read is that most of the popular Apps have ports on the Android Market already.

Are there any apps you use that aren't available on Android? Fieldrunners is on that I'm moderately upset about myself, but I can definitely live without it.

Seems people don't like the new look but I think it looks better with the harder edges but that's just me. I was expecting a larger screen since it's a "top of the line" phone and many phones already have larger screens.

The iPhone has a 3.6 inch diagonal screen that's 3" (l) x 2" (w). The HTC HD2 and Evo have 4.3 inch diagonal screens or about 30% larger in area than the iPhone.

The HTC HD2 is running Windows Mobile 6.5. I don't think it's going to sell well. The HTC Evo is a 4G phone.

If you compare the iPhone to its iPhone killers. The only difference is the resolution difference.

Are you saying that the HD2 and Evo CAN'T be iPhone killers? How does the HD2 running Windows Mobile negate the larger screen because it does have a larger screen as does the Evo.

It appears that the new iPhone will have higher resolution and that's a good thing and with the other improvements I'd be inclined to get one -- BUT the screen is now .7" smaller than the HD2 or Evo and THAT is the thing that tips the scale for me towards the HTC phones and away from Apple. Mind you, there are other things that favor Apple with the longer list of apps being at the top of that list. I also have perhaps a dozen CD's worth of music that was purchased through iTunes in addition to about 250 CD's I ripped so if I switch to Android I'll probably lose them.

4.3 is a man's device. It's gonna be tough to get people to pocket a 4.3" device. You won't sell iPhones to women at 4.3". 3.7" might be able to cut it, but 3.5" should be more than fine. Or...a lot of people dont want to carry that big of a phone. Plus, if they double the res to 960x640 the ppi will be amazing. As John Gruber puts it:

It's got a larger battery... that alone will make me look closely at it.

As far as how it looks, I don't really care. I put my 3GS in a rubbery case, where it's lived since the day that I bought it... which defeats the whole put of sexy designs... if I bought this new one, it would go in some rubbery case too (I ebay them, I'm obsessive about scratches) and however it looked, it wouldn't matter.

The front facing camera seems neat but it seems like a bit of a gimmick. But it could be neat to make video calls... maybe. I think it would be weird to make a call while holding the phone out in front of me like some Star Trek tricorder. But I'll keep an open mind until I see it in action.

The higher res screen would be nice... I wonder how they'll do apps when they have another size screen to deal with... interpolate the existing apps to make them fit?

The flash will be nice... taking photos without it indoors with a 3GS requires everyone to stand really still.

But at the end of the the only major gripe that I have with my iPhone is the battery. Anything they do to make the battery last longer (like make it bigger) would probably have me filing in for an upgrade some time this summer.

One thing that's odd... Apple signed the agreement with the EU on the new cell phone charging standard. Where's it's microUSB charging plug slot?

If this is real and it looks like it is I'm not going to replace my 3G with this and will more than likely switch to the Evo. By my subjective observation the screen size is no larger and perhaps even smaller than the 3G I now have and that is the deal breaker for me. I want a larger higher resolution display and the new iPhone is not larger.

The other obvious thing is the boxier sides and this I do like. I think this feature will make it easier to hold and use as a phone and the increased volume this provides the case will help permit the larger battery -- also a good thing.

There does seem to be some nice features in the new OS as well but once again I think HTC has surpassed them and I will bypass them!

The HD2 with Sense UI looks and feels very different from stock Windows Mobile. It is quite polished and the experience when using it is excellent.

Yet it's still 6.5 and Microsoft is moving on from it. No polish will replace the experience of Winmo 6.5.

You're right. WM6.5 UI isn't that great. I think all WM users will admit that, however it also has it's strong points. I love being able to access my LAN and play any video/audio files without converting.

I love the HD2 4.3" screen and 800x480 resolution. It's great for what I use it for, reading and web browsing. A high resolution on a small screen can only do some much since the actual viewing size is still small. No need to pinch to zoom like I did on the G1 3.2" screen.

(These are my opinions based on my experiences, you are welcome to disagree.)
