people in here are talking about taking your clients and move. that confuses me. what exactly is that relationship? to me a client is somebody who is a repeat customer like the hair stylist that only my wife trust. when i bought my house i can see how my agent called me a client but that was 13 years ago. another question is leads, are they leads to sell or buy. do you do cold calls from a list of leads and say "hi client, say i have a 700K apt near central park would you like to buy it?"

i know ignorant questions but i dont know shit about being a agent.

i would suck at sales and if alec baldwin talked to me like that or put that kind of pressure on me i would poke him in the eye. :)

**UPDATE #2***
WHAT AN ASS HAT! So one of my deals fell apart but no fault of me or the client (perfect credit, just someone else applied from a different firm first) - so he told me that deal doesn't count and that I have to close 3 more by the end of August or I'm toast... I won't be here after the 3rd but still would like to work this remaining week to see what business I can get before I start training at my new job. I wanted to curse him out and storm out but didn't - was I a pussy or was that the right thing to do? Should I remain quiet until The 2nd or just quit now? Yet another person quit yesterday, I'm not alone in my hatred here. Decisions, decisions!

What's the long-term best thing for you? Getting a couple more deals under your belt is always good. But if the pressure is going to bug you or worse, going to trigger you to do something stupid, you should get out of there (since you have somewhere to go).

You can look at next week as Extreme Idiot Boss Boot Camp, take surviving it as a challenge. And besides, watch to see what happens with your other hating coworkers. Are there bets about who will quit next?

Best.

OP, find me a 2BR close to Bedford Park area of the Bronx, with Parking, ~$180-200k, and you'll have a sale. ;)

:hmm:

sounds to me that the "drop a deuce on the boss's desk" option is still on the table.

You're right. I did the responsible thing and posted some ads to trigger throughout the weekend. If people call I'll show, if not I won't go into the office and finish prepping our home for our new baby (due 1st week of august, doctor's saying she could plop anytime now!).. I'll go in casually to clean my desk and will give notice then.. if people reply to my ads then I'll work non-stop, otherwise I'll just beat the heat and remove myself from his threats and passive aggressive bullshit.

It seems to me that you are handling this situation perfectly.

It often feels better to release the emotions but it has less effect than keeping quiet. You will speak loud and clear by telling him that you are leaving. He will realize this if his mind is open to feedback.

Stay quiet, leave quietly, and people will think of you stronger for it.

Idiots always get what they deserve, their own failure. Yelling at him won't help the situation, and probably won't help you either.

About your quitting, he knows you plan to quit right? POS boss or not, two weeks notice is my minimum.

nvm, just read you're going to pop it on him. Seeing as you already have something lined up AND are good at what you do, I think you can get away with it. I know I'd be tempted to do the same. I'd probably still give notice, though I'd probably also quit early if he upped the assholery in response to my notice.

Well, I'm a contract worker. I had a lease signing on Friday (that's when I actually get my check). If I gave notice he could have terminated me, sent another agent for the actual signing and taken 20-50% of my commission because I didn't take the deal to the finishing line (even though I spent 2 weeks getting this client his apartment).. Contract workers aren't required to give notice.

Wow

Sounds like not worth it to me. You only live once.

Yeah, I'm staying home today and tomorrow, may be in the office for like 20 minutes or so for the next few days, then I'm out. I *hate* that he said "I see that you're working harder than ever..." during the conversation, meaning he thinks that threatening me all the time is the only way to increase my productivity. The reason my productivity was higher was because I know I won't make money during training and the transition period, so needed to stack up some deals.. So he rewarded my hard work by threatening me some more... I wanted to punch him.. I at least said that what he's doing was "shitty" and unfair since I made the ultimatum he initially set.
