I can't help but be biased. Americans are untreated unfairly in Pakistan. They are Gods with freedom to do as they wish. If a Pakistani shot and killed two armed muggers, who WOULD be sent to jail but let out on bail. Obviously nobody would really care if a Pakistani did that. Same as a white terrorist in NYU.

Untreated unfairly? Obviously no one in America cares if a Pakistani kills another Pakistani in Pakistan, sure it happens everyday, don't get your racist panties in a twist because an American in Pakistan killed two thugs trying to shoot him got released just like if a Pakistani in America had killed two American thugs would be released.

If that's true, then good. It will make those criminals and/or jhadists think twice about attacking an American again. What is with all those mindless assholes protesting and burning tires after these two thugs were killed? Sure the guy that ran over a bystander should be brought up on charges but not the guy that was being hunted down by armed assailants.

On a side note, Pakistan needs to rid itself of conspiracy theories and face reality that Arab wahhabism has led it towards an imminent destructive path. You can down play extremism all you like but it was allowed to manifest in Pakistan so the few Punjabi families controlling the country could leverage uneducated madrassa brainwashed suicide bombers against India and in turn maintain their status quo. People call Pakistan a shit hole for a good reason.

So much fail in this thread. Person was under attack, person defended themselves, person was released. As they should have been. If this had occurred entirely between Americans in a state, the victim wouldn't have spent more than a night in jail. And they'd be lauded as the hero they are for taking out two worthless skin bags.

1. How the hell do you know the bystander wasn't hit on accident? You know being chased by armed thugs in a foreign country, or trying to help someone that is, is a pretty damned stressful event. It is far more likely that the guy screwed up than he decided "fuck it I am gonna run me some uninvolved beloved patriot down". As much as it may suck, I can understand the person driving that car be brought up on some charges but I really doubt the guy had intent to kill an innocent bystander.

2. I have a gun. I am trained to use that gun. I can and will kill if some thug forces me to. Yes, the two armed thugs forced that guy to defend himself with deadly force. When my, or my families, ass is on the line I am not betting my life on the goodwill of some thugs. Just because you would be to scared to react doesn't mean most people would be if they had the choice AND opportunity. This guy had both, you should thank him for removing two piece of shit thugs from your streets. If a Pakistani citizen was in my town and did the same I would thank him as well and he damn sure wouldn't be charged with murder. I would wager that even if he committed a gun violation the charges would be dropped or at worst some absurdly lenient punishment (deportation at the very worst).

The innocent bystander truly is a tragedy, my thoughts go out to the family. I would place more blame on the thugs than the driver though although as I said, the driver isn't blameless.

That's sad, this is an outrage, I don't expect much from the current US govt in this matter but there should a much greater push to get him home safely. Now I understand that he has committed a crime in that country and he should stand trial and theoretically I am all for it. But he will never get a fair trail, these countries have a history of convicting people even before the trial, just look at the case of Asia Bibi, or just look at the posts from Pakistanis in this thread itself, according to them he is already guilty.How in the world can you expect a fair trail... This guy should be rescued by force and brought home safely.
 
I don't see a problem with the law of the land that determine the out come of this incident. I'm assuming it is the same in the US.

IMHO, this is much less of a problem than the US & Israel that sneaks into foreign countries and snatch random people and jail/torture them indefinitely with disregard for international law or law of the land.
