It's probably easier depending on where you are from.

Australians should have no problem....because there's little fear someone from there would not want to return.

aye, it's an annoying process, I know...but yeah, it might be better if she could apply as an employed person. Good luck with everything though, it's gonna take forever.

My wife (who visited 3 summers in a row as my girlfriend) was able to visit the U.S. with a standard visitor's VISA for up to 90 days per visit.

What nationality is your wife. US Immigration is much easier on Canadian visitors than on anyone else.

Australian, it has helped that Australia-U.S. relations are very strong.

Someone from China or Mexico would have a much more difficult time emmigrating to the U.S. than an Aussie would.

Hey Ross, yer not married to Nicole Kidman are you? Yum.

No but I am. She likes short guys

first, you need to show that you can financially support her while she's here. Bank statements, Job info, etc. So have all that ready. Even a letter from your employer stating that you work there and are paid so much per year. She needs to get all this info and give it to the local office there. To speed the matter up a little, she'll need to sleep with the right official. Otherwise, they may just turn her down at her end. That's how it works in 3rd world nations.

take a vacation and meet her in Toronto!!!... 😉
she won't need a visa... and it'll be cheaper than a visa

It's hard to get a visa for the US now if not married/kids.
When my fam from T&T wanted to go visit the states they had to pay ~1000 US for visas..

Yea the US is pretty tight when it comes to their immigration processes... but i guess it's for good reason...
They are slack with other coutries though... for ex. If you have landed immigrant status in Canada or are a citizen you don't even need a passport to travel to the US... just a birth certificat, citizenship card, drivers licence etc... They have clamped down a little at the US/Can border after 911 and the new non-existant Marijuana laws now though...

If there is a US embasy in S.Korea i suggest she go there and they will tell her all the necessary steps needed....

Uhm, how long before she moves her family over. And then how much longer do you expect her to stay with you?
</cranky_bast@rd>

Well she's not planning on moving over here permanently, just for a visiting visa, 90 days. I usually go there for the summer. And I will probably move over there to work once I graduate.

Going to Canada I guess would be pretty out of the question since it would be more difficult than me just going to Korea. *sigh* Maybe during winter vacation.

Good luck.

Don't need to worry about her staying here though, since majority of Koreans hate the U.S. lifestyle. Many get depressed when they get here.

For tourism it is great, but living here, that is another. Many Koreans miss the smaller, homey feeling of Korea. Not to mention, recreation wise, Korea offers more diverse realm.

wtf does posting her pic have anything to do w/ obtaining a visa?
rolleye.gif

if she has all of her paperwork in order, then maybe she's waiting on you to buy her a plane ticket. what she needs to do is contact the u.s. embassy in south korea. not rocket science.

Someone asked for pics, so I posted them. If you woulda read through the thread you would've seen. THAT's not rocket science.

i obviously read the thread, but do you not know that in every thread there is a request for pics? maybe you haven't been around long enough. my point is that it has nothing to do with the question you asked.

is she using you for status?

hmmm, not sure how to interpret that.

but based on this thread and the fact that he posted pics, i'd say that he is using her on AT for status. 🙂

I dunno... I'm just not feeling her.

Anyhow, how long have you guys been togther?

Korea is a 3rd world nation? 😕 Are you still living in the 80's?

I don't know much about anything, but I know my aunts/uncles, grandparents, etc. from Korea have all visited for about a month several times. Never knew there was such difficulty... don't know of any Korean's staying in America illegally either... dont' see why they would desire to so greatly that they would do so illegally either.

korea is a tweener nation.

not anywhere near the average income of the industrialized nations like US, Japan and some of Europe (all over 20k / year / capita) but way above the so called 3rd world countries.

Koreas Annual Per capita income is around 12k.

????? korea is the country with 40mbit internet-connections for 50$ and a pro-gamer culture unique in the world... (pfffffff...not first world country????...)

infrastructure (internet connections) and gaming culture are not the ONLY things that define whethor or not a country is "3rd world" or "developed nation".

korea is no longer a 3rd world country based on a per capita income figure, but neither are they in the same class as the "developed" nations.

We been together for 1 year. Her getting a visitor's visa doesn't really do anything for her status, so I would say yes, she IS using me for my brains. ^^;
