Damned overclocked lightning.

Although that's probably the best way in the world to die. Instantaneous and absolutely no pain. The last things she saw were what she loved the most, nature and her b/f.
 
The spark came and went and the relationship fizzled out.

Sad story, in large part because they both had a great attitude toward each other. Sometimes the realization that you're meant to be together hits like a bolt of lightning...

Maybe she just didn't want to get married, didn't have the heart to tell him, so she bolted.
 
One doesn't need to participate to be scared of the potential dangers. I'd rather be safe indoors from a storm than outdoors hiking.

I bet you don't leave your house without a reflective vest, a bicycle helmet, and blinking strobes on your shoulders, do you.
