Anyway, I am looking for both a male or a female roommate right now, but would prefer a female one for several reasons:

Less likely to break my stuff.
Less likely to tear things up while smashed.
More likely to be able to afford the rent/less likely to skip out on it.
Greater potential to have attractive female friends. (Though dating one could go south pretty damn fast)

Though at this point I'd rather have a paying male roommate that misses a month or two than none at all.

Clearly he's doubting the OP's mastery of discipline or willpower. It may indeed work, but not everyone can do it. Most of those who can't are too afraid to admit they are indeed weak minded.

I'd say don't do it unless you're willing to cope with her personal attention. You're going to see her nearly 24 hours a day, so both of you will eventually speak your mind, if anything...

And if she has potential to be your future colleague/boss, definitely DON'T do it (or hit it unless you can truly definitely segregate (and segregate WELL, I mean) professional and personal lives).
