I hope she doesn't sue AnandTech because we laughed.

I would counter sue her for polluting the fountain. God knows if she had a load in her pants.

she's suing for "lack of professionalism?" wtf if i could sue over that i'd be a rich MOFO.

but.....sad thing is she is going to win a rediculous settlment......

YAY AMERICA - WHERE EVERYTHING BAD IN YOUR LIFE IS SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT

What? You think thats funny? You people ought to be ashamed of yourselves for thinking someone should have to deal with the consequences of their own stupidity. I mean how DARE that fountain be in her way while she is not paying attention to where she is walking! She could've busted a nail or something too!

To be fair she has a constitutional right to bring her grievances before a judge. It's what makes our system so awesome, but unfortunately but you get the crap that goes along with that right.

yeah but most of it looks as if it was dismissed.

Maybe some of it, but some still remains.....

"In the hours that followed Cathy Cruz Marrero's appearance on 'Good Morning America' today to talk about the fall and its aftermath, she was in court for a status hearing on charges of five felony counts, including theft by deception and receiving stolen property," reports ABC News.

Turns out Marrero's been out on $7,500 bail since 2009, after being charged with running up more than $5,000 in purchases on a co-worker's credit card. No wonder she had a lawyer handy.

Marrero's next court date is April 21, and she's facing about six months of house arrest and electronic monitoring, according to the Reading Eagle.

Bwahahahahaha! Oh, and anyone smell a plot to sue someone to get money to pay for that? Yeah, me too....

This bitch was on Inside Edition today and she almost laughed at herself during her interview. Then she started to "cry" about her horrible experience while she said "Texting and walking, take it from me, it's dangerous" what a dumb bitch.

It's ridiculous that she's suing.

1) She was in a public place, so there's no reasonable expectation of privacy
2) You couldn't easily identify her in the blurry video
3) She obviously doesn't mind if people identify her, or she wouldn't be suing or going on TV!

dudes its gotten better

UPDATE: As Stacy Stutz, some lady I know from Facebook, just said: "It's all fun and games until it goes viral on YouTube" ... and you cry about it on TV and hint at launching a lawsuit, and the Streisand effect kicks in.

So all y'all talking about how if she just shut up and went on with her life, nobody would know it was her in the fountain —maybe six people recognized her — are more right than you realized. While it's unknown how many people knew about her alleged theft charges, we all sure know about it now.

Whenever I see that I just lay on the horn. Usually scares the living shit out the person because for a split second they think they're about to get bent.
 I do this too sometimes. In Folsom, the cops will ride between cars and nail people ALL THE TIME.

I have texting disabled as well (I'm 23). I've received a lot of flak from it from my friends, but I don't care. I see the value in texting, but most other people want to turn texting into a full blown chat, and I wasn't going to be a part of it.

On the flip side, I also have texting disable purely on a financial principle. I refuse to pay outrageous prices (compared to a voice call) to send 255 character text messages. I just won't do it.

THIS.

...though I now have the Google Voice app on my iPhone for free basic text. It won't do landscape keyboard and is difficult to use (probably intentional to discourage over-use and save $$), but it comes through in a pinch. I haven't disabled native text messages because I want it to work in an emergency when someone needs to send something important and they don't know how else to reach me. I still wish stupid retailers and other services would stop assuming it's OK to send text messages. AT&T charges even for incoming messages.

I think his gripe is with the ridiculous fees that cell providers charge for texting, not with the idea of communicating via text.

It's funny, I remember reading that it actually costs NASA less per kB to send data to the ISS (or maybe it was deep space probes and stuff like that) than major cellular providers charge for texting. Just to put things into perspective. The prices they charge are ridiculous, but I guess the only reason they can get away with it is because hordes of idiots are willing to pay for it. If prices were that out of line for most of the public, they'd speak with their wallets and just not pay for the service.

Text messages are actually sent in the extra space of control protocols (that's why the character limit). It costs them nothing to send text messages. Nothing.

I stay on the phone for hours, mostly in silence, with my brother in California on the other end. Even a brief phone call can use more data traffic than millions of text messages. If AT&T wants to reduce data rates (and possibly brain cancer, j/k), they'd introduce free texting. When AT&T or Verizon makes the decision to do this for ALL CUSTOMERS, the other provider will be forced to follow suit.
