Girl, 17, dies after falling from museum staircase railing

& the worst part is that you know there will be a lawsuit brought upon the museum by the parents, saying it was negligence or something like that...
 
Yeah, I kinda agree.. I mean, it's kinda sad.. A young kid dies in front of her friends because she was goofing around... Stupid, yes.. But not that "laugh out loud because it's so removed from reality" kind of stupid.. Now a kid going blind because he shot a frog at himself - that's funny!

Maybe stupid, but not Darwin material. I like to reserve Darwin awards for the type of people who go WAYYYYY out of thier way to look like idiots when they kill themselves.

I.E.: Strapping a jet engine to the top of a Chevy Impala.

There's nothing darwinish about that. She died by accident... have you never tried to slide down a staircase before? 🙂 Of course I've only done it on escalators where there are no large vertical drops.
Anyways... at 17 she could have had a kid already and the whole point of darwinism is if the person dies before they have a kid and if they were seriously lacking in one or more categories. Just cause she died this way means nothing.. she could have been really smart or athletic, really good looking or whatever. So in that case it might be reverse-darwinism 😉

I wonder how many centuries it will take before our gene pool turns to complete and utter crap... since everyone can reproduce and survive (even badly deformed freaks) with the aid of medicine and science.

You can act like a kid when you're 17, but this doesn't mean you're a kid.

Once you get into HS or start getting into more adult things in life (dating, drinking, smoking, drugs), you're an adult in my mind.

It really IS an idiotic thing to do. Although, I'd probably be dumb enough to do it too, but as you get older, you tend to be able to weight the possible consequences of what u're doing

While in high school, some of us would take a bus home, the bus stop was across a busy road from the school. One afternoon I was waiting for the bus with a friend and about ten other students.

As the bus approached, this stupid chick comes ripping across the road - without looking. She was smoked by a small Mazda pickup before she could make it across. The driver saw her at the last minute and slammed on the breaks. We all stood amazed at what we had just seen. My friend and I burst out laughing.

The driver got out, and the chick got up, dusted herself off and got on the bus. She has apparently just clipped the headlight of the truck.

She was half a second away from death.
 
Darwin Award Winner - Not! This is just a kid being a kid. I think every one of us at one time has slid down a railing. Just an unfortunate accident.

Seems more like an unfortunately accident than a Darwin award. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't, at one time or another, slid down a banister/railing. Unfortunately for this person their balance wasn't up to snuff and they ate it. It is really to bad to see kids die doing something fairly harmless. Oh well I hope there isn't a lawsuit, regardless of the sadness of the situation, people should be held accountable for their own actions.
