There's nothing darwinish about that. She died by accident... have you never tried to slide down a staircase before? :) Of course I've only done it on escalators where there are no large vertical drops.
Anyways... at 17 she could have had a kid already and the whole point of darwinism is if the person dies before they have a kid and if they were seriously lacking in one or more categories. Just cause she died this way means nothing.. she could have been really smart or athletic, really good looking or whatever. So in that case it might be reverse-darwinism ;)

I wonder how many centuries it will take before our gene pool turns to complete and utter crap... since everyone can reproduce and survive (even badly deformed freaks) with the aid of medicine and science.

I hope you have a kid that is a "badly deformed freak"

Why? Do you particularily think it's a good thing for the gene pool if we have these deformed/mentally retarded/whatever people reproducing and making more deformed/mentally retarded/whatever people? What a dumbass you are. Oh, and if it turns out that a kid of mine would be badly deformed or retarded or disabled or whatever, I would have it aborted. Nobody should ever have to suffer through that kind of life.

In fact, I hope one day that with the aid of science, nobody will ever again be born disabled or deformed, or with heriditary diseases. I guess you disagree with that too?

In the inevitable lawsuit, the family will probably state that there weren't enough warning signs on the stairway. Like a warning sign would have stopped her from doing that.. It's sad that American society seems to believe that whenever something tragic such as this happens the affected person or the person's family are automatically owed a large sum of cash.

Wow...how utterly stupid. :) How far was the fall, that she killed herself? Sounds pretty cool, that a museum would name a staircase...any reason? Or just pretty blue lighting...

And yeah, condolances to her family nonetheless.

Well, I don't think that people with severe disablities reproduce right now anyway, so they aren't contaminating the gene pool. Also, I know quite a few people with a severe disability and they seem pretty happy because they don't know any better. It's the people who can function somewhat normal who reproduce and could affect the gene pool.

Anyway, I think this person deserves the darwin award for 2002.

I hate it when the Feel-Good Sector calls in "Crisis Counselours to assist the remaining students."

Here's what I'd say:

*tap-tap-the microphone* Is this on? OK. Hello students. My name is Mr. Mike. I'm here to talk to you about about Suzy. Suzy was a dumbass in every sense of the word. She died b/c she was not as bright as you and slid down an obviously dangerous bannister, plummetting 150-feet to the floor below. Survival of the fitest. Weep not for her passing, but be GLAD that she never reproduced. That is all.

I SWEAR I'd do it. :disgust:
