wow yeah, that makes much more sense. i'm a dope. guess that what i get for taking my anger out on someone else...

Nice, and 3 day shipping is only $1.99. I love the Zalman but it sucks they don't include the memory sinks that come with retail versions.

Not bad.... it's not the Zalman, but Zalman-like. There is no copper. Still a pretty damn nice deal, but my 6800OC is still movin' well.

That's the exact same thing I was thinking when I zoomed in on the photo showing the HSF. I also noticed the Newegg description doesn't show the clock speeds for RAM or GPU...sorta unusual for a "high end" video card description at Newegg.

So is it a Zalman or not? The shape is EXACTLY the same but Zalman doesn't make a heatsink that's not at least part copper. Could they have just coppied it?

I'm not up to speed on after-market coolers.

It says Zalman on all the fins so it is a Zalman cooler, though I don't know about the copper. Look closely at the fins in one of the pics.

It's a Zalman hsf. Gigabyte's page about the card says it was done by Zalman. Probably a OEM only all aluminum version to keep costs down.

Well...Zalman or not, I wouldn't buy the card without some sort of heatsink (HS) or HS/fan combo covering the RAM chips (unless the Zalman blows air across the RAM chips?). I only buy retail video cards and I don't overclock because I want longevity from my cards (i.e., I have 3 PCs running and I swap parts regularly to suite my purposes).

Not too familiar with Zalman cooler but from the NewEgg's pictures the GDDR memories are left without any sort of heatsink? You may try to get some aftermarket heatsink for GDDR types. These GDDRs run extremely hot during full load.

Nice or not, if the warranty is only one year, I'd purchase something from another manufacturer with a 3 year or lifetime warranty.
