Pop!! Damn! It was all a dream..........a sweet dream, but a dream nonetheless. They're still picking fourth and have many years of mediocrity in their foreseeable future.

I'm not a Giants fan, but I'd prefer Eli to go to NY instead of San Diego. I want to see him do well, and think he'd have a better chance of that in NY instead of San Diego.

Manning would be a bust in San Diego. He would do well in NY. Marty can't develop a QB.

I just think the pressure would be too quick in SD, and could affect his growth. I know the pressure in NY, in general, is HUGE, but he'd probably sit for at least a year so Kerry could finish out his contract. I think that's the best system for any rookie QB, regardless of how good you are.

I graduated from Mississippi State, which is the arch rival of Ole Miss. But I'm all for it when anyone from Mississippi gets in the spotlight. Lord knows the state gets enough bad publicity already.

Just out of curiosity, do you think Brees is a bust or is he just struggling under Schottenheimer (or, I guess, as a Charger)? I'm not sure how I feel about him, but I remember all the hype when they drafted him along w/ LT and now if he's mentioned at all, it's as if he's just worthless (and I can't really comment, not having seen any Chargers games last year).

Realistically, Manning won't be around for the Giants. That leaves Ben Roethlisberger, who I have my doubts about. I can't quite pin it down, but I see NFL Bust written all over this guy's resume.

What about Rivers? His stock has risen lately, but have the Giants settled on Roethlisberger?

Whenever you hear coaches/scouts/GMs going on and on about a guy's physical potential and traits, you should be worried. I'm sure there's plenty of cases where QBs like that have succeeded, but that's how you get Ryan Leafs and Akili Smiths.

Struggling under Schotty. Look at Schottys history, and name the QB's.

Steve DeBerg
Dave Krieg
Joe Montana (The only good one)
Steve Bono (ugh)
Elvis Grbac

The ones he drafted all fail. Matt Blundin comes to mind. The biggest mistake he made was going with Grbac over Gannon to start the 1998 season. The rest is history.

Awesome news for Giants fans. The Giants have a great base talent in place already, although they didn't show this last season. Eli would do good to sit on the bench and learn, although hopefully they won't pull a Palmer, and never let the #1 pick off the bench like the Bengals did.

Manning going to SD would be a career death sentence for that guy. Schottenheimer is the champion of mediocrity and sucks. Who's the coach of NYG now? Fassel was fired right?

You forgot *snicker* Tony Banks.

I used to have some leftover respect for Marty due to being a Montana-Chiefs convert when I was an impressionable teen, but I think I burnt out on him when he took over for the Redskins after publicly stating that he'd never ever work for Daniel Snyder. Not to mention the QB-killing and general choking.

Yep...it's Tom Caughlin (sp???) now. He used to coach Jacksonville.

Who knows who the Giants have settled on, if anyone. The knock on Rivers is his arm strength. But, if that's it, he may be the man. Heck, Montana had nothing up his sleeve as far as arm strength. But, he was in the perfect system for his talents and, well, the rest is history.

Yeah, and Rivers is being hailed for having great accuracy, which probably has people equating him with Tom Brady. The bad part about picking that high in the draft is that GMs tend to try to put a square peg in a round hole -- hopefully a down-the-field team (like the 49ers or maybe the new Raiders) won't get him and bust him.

I think the Giants are going to screw up if they go for a QB and pass over Gallery. If he's really all that, they can't risk what that would mean for the team, as awful as their o-line's been the last few years.

So says the Chargers fan....

I still remember when the Chargers traded away their chance to get Vick at #1. :brokenheart:

True. But the Giants have so many glaring shortcomings it'll be hard to second guess them. They need a QB, offensive linemen, a running back, WR's, and their overrated D ain't all that, either. They were 4 and 12 for a reason.

Someone is throwing a smoke-screen in the top 5.... Now the question is whom...

I'd take Taylor over Rothsberger(sp)
