Go look for Superburrito, I believe it's on Scottsdale road. It's REALLY sketchy, but it's cheap, good, and you get a ton of food.

Polibertos = Filibertos = Los Betos = etc. (os), anything with an os on the end that looks like a dive is going to serve approximately the same food at the same price. All of them are average Mexican food places, but all of them are at the pinnacle of fast food. Why would someone eat at a shitty place like McDonald's when they could get a full taco meal for half the price instead? Furthermore, after you eat at these places, you start wondering how people can ever eat at Taco Bell...

I have been in Mesa 4 times now...SomeBurros was talked about hadn't been there, but there were a lot of family restaurants I did go to around Stapley that were awesome.

I hope that was sarcasm... even if Mexicans are making the food, none of those places serve Mexican food!

dude if they weren't good and AUTHENTIC how would they become national chains. Next you will be saying Burger King doesn't make good burgers.

That's what I wondered yesterday! I tried Filibertos for the first time and right next door was a Jamba Juice and next to that was a Taco Bell...why oh why would you go to Taco Bell.

That is what I am having for lunch. Words can not describe how much I  this place!

Makes me want some, but that's 8 miles away from the office :(

We need to do a Phoenix get together soon, I want all of the good food recommendations at once.

At least Taco Bell doesn't lie about serving horse meat, they are honest that they do. ;)

Someburros I thought was really good. If you are anywhere near a caramba's i definitely suggest hitting that place up. You can get a pound and a half burrito for 4.95 and it is BOMB.
They aren't technically "ghetto" but I think they are pretty damn good.

Tempe: Suzies on University, East of the 101, south side of the street. Great little spot.

Phoenix: Carolina's Mohave and 12th St. The epitome of ghetto.

I don't know why "you people" like this crap so much. It's fine if you literally want to shit for a week straight. IDK, maybe it's my bias against chinese (food) that keeps me from liking this place. Also, it is definitely not authentic mexican food. FTMFL.

Well both Fuzzy and I are new to the area and we're both Chinese, so it probably wasn't a bad suggestion. Granted, it's probably Mexicanized-Americanized-Chinese food, but whatever. I've yet to try to find decent real Chinese food around here.

Seems to be a number of Phoenix people here. My first thought was "Guadalupe". Otherwise I'm not too sure on the authentic places. And I'm more of a curry junkie anyway.

I'd be up for a Phoenix meet-up too...

I've been there. It's good.

Unfortunately, the hole-in-the-wall places here in Tucson are gradually going out of business and being replaced by expensive national chains like On The Border. And the ones that are left just aren't as good a deal as they used to be. But Molina's Midway still rocks.

QFT, you just don't take it for what it is. ( a very "ghetto" dive that has awesome food) I wouldn't call it authentic mexican either...I just call it Chino Bandido.
Perhaps you are getting the wrong things when you go there. Perhaps you fail at having good taste in food? Chino Bandido FTMFW!!!!

consistancy and knowing it would pass health inspection. not to mention price.

My wife loves Panda Express over PF Changs/Pei Wei, go figure.
