The way it consumes the vram is very strange . Like it pre-loads every possible texture before you even load anything . Right after the game starts in the menus it's consuming 1.2gb of vram (o_O), once you get into the lobby it hits 2gb (max for me , probably more ).
Also I should note I'm running Windows 8.1 .

That isn't VRAM usage.

Maybe a AT writer can do an educational article to help people understand.

Something tells me that due to erroneous thread titles like this one, two years from now we will still see people claiming that Titanfall used 3GB. lol.

Can you tell us how much Vram Titan fall needs to be maxed properly? No stutters or anything at 1080p?

If you are getting stuttering @ 1080p with 1.5MB or more, it isn't your card that is the problem. Start from the top of the thread.

Been playing Titanfall Beta and I'm on a GTX 760, and it runs flawlessly, even with Insane textures and 4xMSAA at 1920x1080. Not seen the GPU ram usage go over 1.4GB so far. Flat out 60fps (Though the game caps FPS at your screens refresh, regardless if vsync is on or off).

i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz
12GB DDR3-1600
Palit GTX 760 2GB
Windows 7 x64

Is this actually confirmed to be using Source engine? I find it...odd...to be a EA published game, that uses Valves Source engine.

The game was in development before EA got publishing rights if I remember correctly.

It seems to me like it´s caching as many textures as possible into VRAM seeing as my 680 is at 2GB in the lobby before actually even entering a map.

No stuttering issues with settings maxed out @1440p. SLI needs a profile update.

Why? The disc-based versions of The Orange Box and Portal 2 were published by EA, as well. Past that, why would Valve care what publisher a developer it licenses out its engine to chooses? They don't control Respawn any more than Epic Games controls BioWare, Rocksteady, or any developer that uses the Unreal Engine.

Sorry, it just felt like they should be/are mortal enemy's, after EA pulled almost all their games from Steam and built their own Origin store.

But I don't want to stray much further from the topic at hands. Thanks for clearing things up!

BTW, don't use ingame vsync double/triple buffer options. It causes severe issues on Nvidia cards.

Instead, set the game to adaptive vsync through Nvidia Control Panel. You'll thank me later.

Anyone had the whole screen on a pink color with rainbow colors swapping around on every surface? On start I had it on TAB for the score only when I was dead. But later on, over 90 min of playing I had it on the whole round, at end of it and at next round the graphics where OK.
2600k @ 4.5
770 dc2oc OC (sli but since no profile #care)
Temperature on gfx was at 56C at full OC with only 7.5 for ram lower then normally I run for bf4.
I have a as but it on PC @ home

I get 60fps with insane textures with vsync off with my rig except for when I'm in a titan and I get around 45 fps. The same thing happens when I disable SLI. Even at 60 the game runs choppy no matter if I have vsync on or off. The game is super fun though.

Sli ISNT supported yet, or better TITANFALL isn't supported from sli, since sli profiles are provided from nvidia for each game via drivers, so even you have it enabled only a single card is doing the work.

This game is getting a ton of hate. It's true that so far it's just a terrible console port, but I'm hoping they make some much needed improvements and at least put the fps cap to 120+.

I'm running the game at 1080p insane just fine, zero stuttering. Hell, I get more stuttering in BF4 after it's been released for ages now. Actually, the game is in really good shape considering the state of most betas these days. I only encountered one thing that I would consider a bug, and that was an NPC clipping through a wall. That's from 8+ hours of play.

Also new games don't always need 'the best graphics', especially fast paced shooters like this. I don't see people complaining that CS:GO is just source engine. I just really wish it was on steam.... would have been a day 1 purchase for me.

Well the thing I was talking about is Infact Vram usage , im using GPU-z and afterburner , and what I was describing was the video ram filling up to the absolute maximum . The strange thing in this instance is compared to other games , like BF4 , AC4 , Crysis 3 wich use about 5-600 mb until you actually start the game level , this game grabs about 1.2gb before you even get in anything that uses textures , AA or maps of any sort .
Also in the video settings menu there is clearly a statement : warning insane level will use 3gb of video memory .
Also for the people getting "choppy" gameplay , disable vsync ingame . Forcing it through the nvidia control panel makes the game run smooth .
Another important detail might be that i'm using win 8.1 , I don't know if the game is using d3d 11.2 tiling or not , but I can asure you with a 2 gb card there is no frame drops or choppy-ness .

No, you weren't. What you were looking at in AB and GPU-Z was allocated VRAM, which is dynamic.

A simple look at the graphs shows this stuff.

Can I play this game on my laptop from 2008 at 60 FPS on insane graphics settings? I have a 8800M GTS. Thanks!

No. I doubt you can even play it all. It asks for a 2.4 C2D CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 8800GT as minimum. Even if your CPU and RAM meet the requirements, your 8800M GTS is not a 8800GT. If I recall correctly, the GTS was weaker than the GT version, and yours is a mobile graphics card, so it's probably closer to the 8600GT in performance, if even that.

So, no.

As far as console ports go, it's got a pretty good customization suite. Field of view slider, no single key with 3+ actions bound to it, etc.

The hate this game is getting is just weird. Literally every video game writer I pay attention to -- TotalBiscuit, Angry Joe, ReviewTechUSA, boogie2988, etc -- have tried it and had a lot of fun with it. I don't think the hate the game is getting is really rational, but an uncanny singularity of Playstation fanboys/girls, Microsoft haters, Call of Duty haters (which is really ironic, as the game is plenty different than COD), and EA haters all ganging up and hating on the game, likely without even having tried it.

Hate ? What do you mean.?
I am so lucky I wasn't waiting it.

6vs6 maps hello 2000
NPC's on the maps with 6 man? So everyone gets some kills but still the good [layers with the kids on their team will qq since they will loose. I hope the A.I. of them will be better on release.
Titans are to hard to die, with weapons and rodeo, it will get a huge issue when the better people will destroy the other teams. Wait for it.

Good game for 20-30 euro but not for 60.
Titafail vs betafield4 I would say betafield someday they will release the full version.

Would SLI help?

No.

You are not doubling the memory in an SLI setup, you are just splitting the load between the cards.

So if you have two 770 2GB's card in SLI you are only working with 2GB's of total vram not 4.

Same applies for 4GB 770 your working with 4GB's total not 8gb.

And this is the reason I would opt for 4GB's 770's if I was going to use SLI.

You will be Vram capped in a 770 2GB sli setup before you even slap the cards in your machine lol.

Now we are just making things up

What is wrong with what he said.

I agree.

If you are going to go SLI you are bound by the memory limit of either of the single gpu's so its best to go with cards that have more memory.

like my 770 2gb vs 4GB example above.

you disagree?
