My 6600GT died, so I went to the store to get it replaced with a new 6600GT.
Anyway, they didn't have any, so they gave me an x300 (that's what they said) until next week.

Anyway, they didn't know anything about drivers, and thought that because both of my cards were from Gigabite (or whatever) I won't need new drivers...
So, maybe they made a mistake and actually put a geforce card, because my PC recognizes the card as a PCX 5300 or something like that. Basically, what I'm asking is if the PC can detect the card as a wrong card? I haven't played any games yet, because I'm afraid to burn THIS card...

you have to reinstall drivers HAVE TO, run drivercleaner too

HAVE TO REINSTALL, just because its gigabyte means ******....problem is you are switching from a nvidia to ati which is a BIG nono without reinstalling the correct drivers

anyways, x300 is much slower than your 6600gt so be prepared for that

Yeah I know that obviously Gigabyte means nothing, as stated in my first post, and the x300 is only here until (I hope) sunday, or monday.
Anyway, is driver cleaner a must?
Also, I've heard bad things about CCC or whatever... So I don't want to install the Catalyst drivers.

Anyway, if I uninstall the nVidia drivers, will XP identify the card automatically?
