I have a 9700 Pro in one rig, Unreal 2004 demo plays decent if I keep the res at 1280 x 1024 with no AA.
However my Geforce 4 Ti rig leaves something to be desired in framerates. I usually struggle at 1024 x 768 no AA or AF (of course) with a few details turned down.
I read in another forum how some guy changed FarCry to render in Open GL and got a nice boost for his GF4.
This particular GF4 is a Gainward 4800 SE @ 320/705. After switching to Open GL and using a few tweaks,
1152 x 864 is averaging 55fps. Nothing to brag about, but still amazing for any GF4 and it is actually reasonably smooth with decent IQ. Playable if you aren't too picky, it occasional dips into the high 20's in a big hairy outdoor fight, but just for a few frames, sometimes actually hitting above 100 when facing a low detail structure.
