A lot of people have success with the sc. I'm not looking for a dyno queen or even a drag star. I just want a little more power.
If I can get about 425 hp and about 375 ft/tq I would be happy
.
I'd have to do a little more research, but those power levels on the 3.5 are in fantasy land with a supercharger.
...
looked up a couple setups. I think the 425 is doable, but thinking it might take upwards of 9 grand or even more to do so. The tq numbers seem to be at 350 or less.
Here's my thinking.... 9 grand is a lot of dough to throw at a supercharger that basically has limited potential. If you are fine with how things end up, go for it.... but let's say you blow the motor - definitely a possibility - you do a rebuild and are stuck with the same kit, so you throw another 6-8 grand at the motor to get up and running, and you will be looking at only marginally more power than you had on a stock block.
here's another bit of advise. put NO WEIGHT in any warranty. You get a tail light warranty. sure you could get warranty on the supercharger or turbo if they go, but don't for a second think you are going to boost the car and get factory type warranty on the drivetrain. The first thing to come to terms with when doing a conversion is there are no guarantees. I have seen people blow 3 motors before the car even left the shop.
I personally blew a motor (well cracked a ringland) on my setup a few yrs back. You definitely gotta pay to play -> and if you are paying for a shop to do the work, you will be paying even more.
No matter what you do, be aware of worst case scenario:
pics from some of my builds:
APS single turbo on 03 350z
APS TT on 9:1 compression motor 04 350z (my car)
APS TT on 9:1 compression motor (GTM shortblock) 03 G35 (this is GRD performance's old shop car)
*** unfortunately I didn't take pics of the vortech setup.
Did you say if you car is an auto or manual trans?
