Overall I would say that I'm looking forward to it. I'm not afraid of needles in the least, and I've seen the procedures before of getting a tattoo. Just wondering what I should expect, that's about it. Also, should I preemptively take Tylenol or anything else? I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Edit: I'm alive, all is well with the world

I don't think any pain killers should be necessary. Just make sure you follow the aftercare instructions.

No, just eat well before hand. Some people get a bit sick from the ink and from nerves. The pain is nothing unless you get it done on a particularly painful location (sides, neck, anywhere bone is prominent, etc). Tip your artist well, follow their directions for after care very seriously.

That's it! Enjoy!

It's going to be the german flag with the Welsh dragon in front of it. It's something that has a direct meaning to me (my heritage) and something I'll be able to live with the rest of my life. I'll be getting it on my back right scapula area, mainly so if I ever get some corporate job or something it isn't obvious.

It wouldn't make too much sense to get the DDR flag since the Welsh Dragon will be in front of it, so it'll just cover the coat of arms anyways. I do like the style though.

sounds interesting, just make sure they know which end is up. i had a friend who was a big trekkie and she wanted a tattoo of the star trek symbol thing and got it on the same location, and found out too late it was upside down. hehe.

i don't think she was too happy about that.

SECOND REICH, BITCHES!

Any German flag which does not include the imperial eagle is not really a German flag. 1000 years of history can't be wrong.

Except for the people with tattoos. They all express themselves in the same way.

It feels like you're getting cut with a scalpel for about 45 minutes in the same place over and over and over. Have fun!

Seriously, a tattoo in that area does sting a bit (I have one on my left scapula area about 4x4 inches), but it's manageable. I didn't need any painkillers and I got through it just fine. As has been mentioned follow care instructions to the letter and it'll turn out better after it heals.

Man, I have been dreaming of this day since I was a teenager (over 10 years ago). I have a half sleeve, but now I go for the gold.

Tattoos used to be a way of standing out from the crowd, now they are used as a way to fit in.

Yep. and don't do too many drugs. My buddy (of 10+ yrs) is an artist and he gave me this advice. He also gave me a great tattoo. I felt great in the morning. The process is more tiring than you'd think. . .

Worth it though.
