Getting my first tattoo in about 12 hours

I got a small one on my left shoulder a few years back. It hurts but nothing intolerable. Just breathe, relax, and you'll be fine. And, as others have said, make damn sure you follow the after care instructions.

I can't believe this thread is still alive. I too am now in the healing/recovery stage of my tattoo. I think it turned out good, but he said to come back in 4-5 weeks to do some minor touch ups. The process itself was pretty straight forward, it did hurt, but nothing compared to when I had teeth pulled. The best way I've been able to but it thus far is that there was pain, but not enough to illicit any emotion.
