Can't believe I'm saying this about a Chrysler product...but this car looks amazing! Rumored to have around 300hp, AWD, upgraded suspension and brakes, and a body kit for under $30K.

Might give the Focus ST a run for its money.

I drove a dart recently and was pleasantly surprised. That turbo engine is a treat.

Dodge is fucking good now. I know I'm the resident fanboy, but still.

I've never been a fan of Dodge, but I'll admit the Dart looks very cool, and it's one that I'd consider buying. Back lights look like an Aston Martin.

We'll see what the production version looks like.

So far in my limited experience I'll just say the shift knob on the 6MT is HUGE. Why did Dodge decide to use a softball in place of a golf ball?

I had a 2008 model year dodge, and a 2011 model year dodge. I would not purchase another dodge other than a viper at this point just due to far too many minor issues on the second vehicle.

Every vehicle has a chance to have issues, but when a vehicle has so many small things wrong with it, that is no longer statistically expected. That points to systemic QC issues.

Chrysler needs to get its act together regarding QC, like ford and gm, before I would even consider one of their products.

Someone my office was saying that chrysler subsidizes a portion their vehicles to people who are on state aid. I dunno if it's true, but it does explain how popular the charger and 300c are to people on welfare.

Someone at your office is an idiot. And show us the stats that people on welfare drive chargers and 300s. And most people on welfare are white, just for good measure.

Wtf.... does it have to do with being white? How about you take your racism elsewhere.

Go to any poor area (race aside, for the baiters) and you will see a much higher representation of chargers/300c.

It doesn't take a genius to realize that. Just look at how many 300c's have 24inch rims with the fake bentley grill. Its a dime a dozen around these parts.

90% of the reason I would never consider the two cars. Though if I needed a "nice" large car for a weekend or going out somewhere the 300C/XTS are at the top of the list.

I am definitely seeing some more appealing Dodge offerings as of late than they've had in...well, pretty much my lifetime, unless you're a K-car fan.

But I have this sinking feeling that the cake is a lie.

What's making this car interesting is it's a rebadged Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Fiat got their crap together, bought Alfa, got their crap together, and now they're making awesome vehicles for Chrysler. The Giulietta is getting good reviews overseas, and the SRT4 will have an upgraded engine, suspension, and brakes.

Has the potential to be a killer!

Because people on walfare buy new cars all the time.

dodge under cerberus != dodge under fiat.

and as with any change in hands, you have to give a few years for the effects to really show. the dart is miles and miles ahead of the caliber it replaced.

My problematic dodge was purchased brand new only about 14 months ago. Dodge isn't like Ford, the model year lines up almost entirely with the calendar year instead of almost lining up with the previous calendar year.

Amusingly, the one from the time period that you're saying was the worst was a far better put together vehicle.

I like the Dart a lot. Was hoping it would come in hatchback flavor.

Exterior is striking and its very roomy for a compact. Interior materials could be better, but still miles ahead of where it once was and the interior beats out the 2012 Civic's for sure.

300HP & AWD & $30K -

Focus ST, Golf R, WRX - all in Dodge's crosshairs!

I was turned off by the 1.4T requiring premium gasoline for "optimum performance and fuel economy"...

Nearly all turbos and supercharged engines require premium. You can go down to 89 usually with reduced performance. Some cars will do 87 OK without knocking (the MINI comes to mind).

Can't defy the laws of physics... and it would be lame to only have an 87 octane tune... what more do you really expect?

Several modern small turbos do not require premium, though. So it's clearly not a necessary thing.
