The UC's are doing their fair share by labeling everybody and dividing the the nation against each other with those labels.Originally posted by: Drekce
Liberals are killing this country! You aren't allowed to do anything anymore in the name of offending someone.

moonbeam: whether or not competition is right or wrong or granting "evil" is beside the point. It is a part of life, and to shield kids from reality is wrong. If you dont set up children for the real world, they will not be prepared. This is a good part of the reason for school, to prepare and educate kids for life on their own. If they know nothing but "winning" then they are that less prepared for the future. And wtf is that "non-answer" crap, i would never put a kid throught that system.
I don't believe that in order to be happy, then someone else has to be unhappy. I don't believe that in order for me to "win" someone else has to lose.
What is this "real world" you speak of? The one where everyone fights each other in order to achieve material gain which in turn leads to happiness? I've been in the real world for a while, and I don't belive losing is an integral part of life. If you see life as a "me against everyone else" kind of thing, then you probably do encounter some winning and a lot of losing. If however, you see life as "follow my own path to happiness" and don't have it dictated to you, then I can attest that you can always "win". By teaching children about the viciousness of the real world, you're actually creating that vicious world for them.
"Non answer" is ridiculous, but that doesn't mean it has to be replaced by "wrong". In teaching kids, I believe the best method is to make sure that they understand the steps as you go along with any subject. Then when they get something wrong, you can use the socratic method to help them to see their errors and learn how to self-correct. This works great for me, but of course that is always in one to one tutoring or in a very small group.

Hemet High School in Hemet, Calif., is considering eliminating the traditional valedictorian award for the graduating senior with the highest grade point average. Otherwise, some delicate students may suffer a damaging blow to their self-esteem.
Actually I see that I'm guilty of doing the same thing I accuse the UC's of doing by labeling divisive Right Wing Luntatic Fringe Groups as UC's. I guess the whole political climate these days is Divisive. It really started when the Original Bush started labeling those who didn't agree with his policies as liberals and Conservative talk shows like Limbaugh's picked up the ball and ran with it. Now days you see paint chip eating morons (oops, I did it again) calling everything that doesn't fall in line with their narrow minded point of view (damn I keep doing it) Liberals. It wouldn't be so bad if those they accuse of being Liberals were really Liberals but they have also labled Moderates as Liberals too. Of course the same can be said for Liberals, Moderates and Center of the Right Conservatives when they lable the UC's what ever it is they use to describe them.Originally posted by: Dark54555

Liberals support affirmative action, the ultimate division and labeling tool.

Humanity is sick and upside down to reality. Competition is hostility. Hostility is hate. Hate arises out of duality, the punishment of evil, the rewarding of good, and the identification of the split in identity between the suppression of the true self as evil and the lelvation promotion and greedy lusting for attention praise reward accomplishment and glorification of the ego as a surrogate satisfaction to real self love. In reverse, the illusion of duality, the false belief that our original and true nature is evil creates the egotistical competer who strives for a false reward that is of no real value. The uslessness of such a life breeds hate contempt and the will to victory, all based on an inner sickness or delusion.
Trying to stamp out that hate, that delusion by pretending it doesn't manifest in every aspect of our society while a step in the direction of healty is doomed ultimately to failure also. The feelings of worthlessness are deeply rooted and not so easy to remove. Still, when you see the intention you can put it in perspective. Seeing that everything we have based our self worth on is sick instead of some grand achievement allows one to deflate ones ego a bit and not feel so threatened by every passing fad. To know that there isn't aqnything wrong with anybody except that they are trapped in the illusion of duality helps too. We are all the same and there's nothing to do but love.
